I can’t believe how many people go back and talk smack about Spawn. Spawn was absolutely the coolest comic book of the 90s and it definitely had the “it factor“ when it came out.

I grew up with comics. I remember a friend handing me Spawn #1. At 10 years old I knew that book was a game changer. It was different and showed the way forward for comics.

Jack Kirby was to the 60s as Todd McFarlane was to the 90s

He was my inspiration in the 90s drawing like him. I still to this day do detail and hatching like him, chains, and webbing, scrolls, like him. My art has been inspired by him, and anime, in the largest part.

They never mentioned the word… EGO! Still, pretty good doc.

Batman, Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman, Spawn. Everything he drew was an instant buy for me as a kid during this time. I loved the artwork above all others at the time.

This was extremely well done. It’s not often you get a doc that shines light on all the aspects of a life, even the cracks. This really humanized him for me. I can’t judge as we all fall short. The subtext is what’s most important and Todd’s character lights the way ❤

We need to invent a new word to define what Todd McFarlane IS. To have been in the same time as your inspiration makes my days.

Anybody that is stuck in the funk, needs to watch this documentary. Doesn’t matter if your a artist or just the average joe who works at McDonalds. It makes you realize you can do anything that you set your mind too. If you want to achieve your goals watch and take it to heart.
