First of all this was an illegal recording under California Penal Code 632 and should have never been brought against them because it was a private conversation. The criminal that recorded this will be prosecuted. Secondly the word "chongo" is used commonly amongst the Brown Community. Nury Martinez is White. Federal policy defines “Hispanic” not as a race, but as an ethnicity which is why it's not even in the same category on demographic surveys. Her bigotry is an example of "Mejorar la Raza." It was the League of the United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the Mexican government that claimed to be of the "White Race" and pushed to remove Latinos from being classified as a separate race on the U.S census and demographic surveys. So this behavior from Nury Martinez is nothing more than the usual White on Black racism based on skin color. Also contrary to some of the comments on this video, her political affiliation has nothing to do with it. The racist comments that she said behind closed doors is the same type of racist comments that Republicans say in public to appeal to their bigoted voter base. The main difference is that Democrats actually try to hold each other accountable for getting caught with racist comments while Republicans only pat each other on the back when their racism is exposed. We all know that racism is what got Donald Trump elected by White Republicans in 2016. A Democrat would never be able to get away with the prejudice that Trump used in his campaign.
