Your adorable... And a very cool audiophile.. Peace
Ответитьam having a hard time googling this Santana album the 5X version :O
ОтветитьAs much as I love the Beatles, I've never been able to get into their solo albums. I have the Things Fall Apart repress from a couple of years ago that I got For $29, but there are only a handful of songs that I really like on there. I wonder how this repress sounds compared to that one. The Nugent is fantastic...gonna pull that out again, as is the Miles. I ended up spinning the Bobbie Gentry and really liked it. I would not call it a jazz album, but get what they are saying. It's so good though. That sucks about the Velvet Fog. I've stopped buying MOV, unless it's something that no-one else is pressing. Their quality has dropped quite a bit the last couple of years. I've gotten records that are noisy, and one that was scratched from the factory. I think with the boom they are just pumping stuff out without consideration for the quality. A definite downside to the resurgence. I hope you are good. Have a great weekend.
Ответитьanother fab video . picked up George Harrison 8 LP set . beautful book
ОтветитьI like some of the songs on All Things Must Pass. I have always loved "What is life" but I find the album to be unlistenable now that my system is so good. I listened to my original pressing and a digital version of the remaster and while I could put in on the background I can't sit down and listen it critically.
ОтветитьHi Melinda gonna fan of your channel I'm curious looking at your Ted Nugent cover there have Hi Melinda gonna fan of your channel I'm curious looking at your Ted Nugent cover there have you got any outta sleeve on that in particular let you know what it is it looks really tight and really slick my sleeves and I have a double gatefold out ones or kind of weather a little oversized. It anyway just want to give you a shout out in congratulations on your new turntable hope you enjoy it I'm sure you will
Ответитьin regards to the velvett fogg record, i'm sure you already done the research but since it was released a month ago (and if you bought it new from MOV) you should try to get a replacement or your money back. it doesn't matter if its a limited press, if you paid good money for a limited edition record...it should have no issues.
ОтветитьOperation Mindcrime is such a great album, but it’s a bummer that it was an early digital recording. It definitely has that cold and harsh sound.
ОтветитьOut of curiosity- do you plan on ordering the MOFI of the Eagles first 2 albums? I just ordered my first one-step pressing to see what the rage is about.
ОтветитьJim Sullivan - ufo try to give that a spin. 😄
ОтветитьHi Melinda, sorry to hear about Velvett Fogg. You mentioned that a scratch is causing it to skip. Does the scratch kind of run 'parallel' to the grooves? Let me know. Sometimes these skips/jumps can be fixed.
ОтветитьHi, the Velvett Fogg is still available on Discogs for a fair amount of money. I hope you can purchase one!
ОтветитьHello Melinda,
Always nice to see a music angel show what she got. Wow, lovely collection. Still haven't got the George Harrison All Things Must Pass reissue. Love that John Lennon frame and
love those posters you got.
God bless and enjoy all your goodies,
Tino
Melinda, My band Uncle Sally just received our vinyl album, cut and mastered by Scott Hull at Masterdisc and mass produced (in a super limited quantity) by Microforum. I'd like to send you a complimentary copy... Is there an address you can provide to make that happen????
ОтветитьSurprised your Nugent isn't warped. I used to press records with a couple transplants from QRP. I thought they were joking when they said QRP can't press flat records. But I bought the Hendrix Band of Gypsys Box set. Almost all were warped.
ОтветитьHopefully the pressing plates don't have a lock groove or all the copies of Velvett Fogg will be the same(you can get about a thousand or so off a plate).
ОтветитьDon't worry about the gnomes. You'll see sets showing up at second hand stores before long. But personally I stream only. I can't even remember the last time I bought a CD let alone vinyl. I'm just not getting this resurgent of vinyl.
ОтветитьGreat job
ОтветитьExcellent albums here Melinda. Some people when the think of Ted or hear his music they instantly turn off because his political views. I put that stuff aside. He is a force to be reckoned with on that guitar. His music is killer. Fred Bear, Just What the Dr. Ordered , Rawdogs and Warhogs just to name a few more. And what a stage presence. Got to see him with Damn Yankees and he just owned the stage. You gotta listen to his music and max volume 🤘🔥🤘
Great video Melinda
Thanks Melinda, I continue to hear mixed reviews about this record, not sure if I will "upgrade". I agree with your assessment of Ted Nugent's, I am very curious about that Bobbie Gentry record, will check it out. Cool video!!!
ОтветитьGlad to hear the Nugent did not disappoint... Saw him open up for Aerosmith on the "Done with Mirrors" tour. Ted put on an awesome performance. Some folks felt he was better than Aerosmith! And yes, he did "Stranglehold"....and it was incredible. "Abaraxas" is such a masterpiece...Those first 3 Santana albums are each a masterpiece and necessary for EVERY vinyl collector to own. Interestingly, I have never seen Santana,....foolishly...and sadly enough (I need to correct that problem fairly soon..if he tours again.). I will say this, Young's "Decade" is the great first starter Young album. Really, I can't see how anyone can put Neil's best stuff on just 2 albums...just my opinion. Ugh...sorry about the scratch.....maybe you can get your money back. I"m glad it's just a scratch...I say that, because IF you start getting skipping...it could be your stylus....and those, as you know, can get QUITE expensive. Take care and good vid!
ОтветитьOf course, I have no idea how badly your Velvet Fogg LP is scratched, but sometimes these can be fixed. If you can magnify it enough where you can see it and work on it with a small sharp plastic tool you might be able to fix it. I have fixed several skips like this. Just be careful. :)
ОтветитьMelinda, Would you know how to identify a 50th anniversary pressing from the previous 180 gram versions? I wonder, maybe they are all the same quality?
ОтветитьAnalog Productions and Mobile fidelity don't do remixes.
ОтветитьHello Melinda, I love your channel. Question for you: were you able to find another (MOV) copy of Velvet Fogg? If not, and I don't know how you feel about buying records off of Discogs/secondary market, but there is a (MOV) copy listed for around $35 on Discogs. And the seller is here in the US. Hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck!
ОтветитьI love that Bobbie Gentry album. Also there is a cd boxset of all of her music well worth searching out, not to mention getting originals of her work. She was so authentic and left on her own terms. Amen
ОтветитьNeil Young Greatest Hits is actually a not well known 1 step pressing
All Neil Young remasters are beautifully sounding analog. Neil cares about sound quality and is directly involved in his re-issues
My pet peeve is. All these big record companies hopping on the vinyl bandwagon. And charged big bucks for records. I never stopped buy vinyl. Even in 1990’s and the 2000’s.
ОтветитьI’ve never heard this album. I never liked him. Or that style of music. But, I love Phil Spector music. The Wall Of Sound. The best of the 1960’s. RIP Ronnie Spector.
ОтветитьI saw Ted Nugent in concert with Aerosmith and Foghat. Even though I wasn’t a Rock music fan I saw probably every major Rock band in the 1970’s. From The Who, Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin. I even saw Kiss. I’m on the cover of the Kiss Alive Album. It was recorded in Detroit in I think 1977. I was second row.
ОтветитьOde To Billy Joe is one of my all time favorite songs.
ОтветитьINXS was a amazing band. Thanks for the suggestions.
ОтветитьYou like the Mamas and the Pappas? I just bought Neil Young’s Harvest. This is in my opinion his best.
ОтветитьUse what I use for my records. Record Riser. It’s a solution. I use this for all my records. It takes out pops and cracks. It might help with that scratch on your record. I even use it on brand new records.
ОтветитьThanks i wanst aware Nugent had been reissued. Impossible to find in good condition used. Ill put that on my hunt list. I have the half speed master of Abraxas from the early 80s that sounds awesome. Pick up that issue too as it sone of my fav lps. ty...cheers
ОтветитьHi. I just thought I’d let you know. Record Store Day 2022 list is out. I see a few things I want.
ОтветитьI’ve been wanting the INXS compilation. I’ve seen it around but, I haven’t bought it yet.
ОтветитьThe Neil Young’s Greatest Hits is another album I want.
ОтветитьI just discovered your channel today and I love it! I'm a huge audiophile and love your takes on all the albums you've got and also the insight to different companies as well. Thanks for the info and you might want to check out a company called Elusive Disc. They have some hard-to-find albums but they also have a lot on backorder and awaiting repressings so check them out and you might find something you like that's actually in-stock. Thanks again for the wonderful insight you have. Peace.
ОтветитьGood morning Melinda hope you have a great day thanks for all your advice is very helpful 😊👍
ОтветитьIt has been my experience that the original pressing of this album sounds the best. I'm glad my original is still in great shape. If you can locate one, I highly recommend it!! You'll hear what I'm talking about.
ОтветитьIf you can find a good copy of It's A Beautiful Day by It's A Beautiful Day, it would be well worth your time and money.
ОтветитьStop telling us what we should own
ОтветитьYou do need every INXS album . . . I promise you do
ОтветитьI'd love to hear your comments on what resources you go to to determine if the record you are looking at is an original issue or reissue. I've spoken with some rec9rd stores that have said companies dont always list a 2nd year on a record label or cover when it's a reissue. Example: a record that was released in 1978 and then they pressure in 1979 or 1980 but they don't write that on the record. Do you have any tricks to figure out what it is you are buying? I'm a real nubbie. Thanks. Loving your channel and I'm going back and watching old episodes. That's why this comment is so late
ОтветитьMelinda you're heading into audiophile waters..You can't help it. What is the new TT?
ОтветитьIMHO I think it's worth having every different edition of All Things Must Pass. The 2017 reissue is an excellent one as well.
