What is a useful definition of vulnerability?

Vulnerability: Putting yourself out there, asking for what you want, and handling the results you get.

Most of us think of vulnerability as sharing, maybe even oversharing or over-explaining.

But vulnerability doesn't always mean going into detail so that the other person fully understands us. Often that doesn't work at all, especially if you are interacting with someone who is toxic or abusive.

Vulnerability is opening yourself to being hurt in some way. It's about your willingness to face a bad outcome.

If you can get good at handling disappointment and rejection then you won't have a problem with being vulnerable. But if you're not vulnerable you don't have a shot of getting what you want out of any relationships or goals.

Vulnerability can be powerful.
