I have an American version of a BBC Model B
It can output NTSC TV , use 120 volt 60 hz mains power and accepts British and American spellingd of some BASIC keywords
One of the few truly successful modern British companies which has transformed computing globally, sold to foreigners by people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing. And us brits wonder why we are losing influence in the world. Shameful.
ОтветитьWell not entirely factual she was a he back then
ОтветитьWho were the amateurs?
ОтветитьI got an interview call from arm it feels crazy
ОтветитьYou mean Rodger Wilson. Ask Chris.
ОтветитьPlease explains MIPS, Emotion Engine, and RISC V too
ОтветитьBecause of this design, 2023 Apple computers are so fast and cooler than anything out there. How come Intel and AMD don't bother using ARM CPs? I mean it will cause them some licensing fees but I'm sure windows based laptops would be a lot more capable than now.
ОтветитьSomething of note, a little late for pride month- Sophie is actually trans, and as a transfeminine myself also working in IT, she really is an inspiration to me. Have a good one y'all!
Ответитьi got no audio atm, but didnt risc start at ibm first and arm is just an adaption of that !?
so it was a dude at ibm who created risc. i havent seen all video and have no audio , but i know this is often forgoten ,just like atari stealing all there first games and tech from others , and having many law suits against them and having to pay damages and still they take the glory !!!
wow! i thought i heard abigail thorn!
ОтветитьLol @ using a cartoon of a woman being the genius, since there's no video if it.
ОтветитьFun Fact as a response to the end of the video: I am german, and of course I have heard of Acorn. They built the Archimedes Computer, that was the first RISC Home Computer of it's time.
ОтветитьBeautiful video and the animations are just amazing. I definitely recommend nebula for the full interview.
ОтветитьIn 30 years, he'll make a video on Linus Tech Tips
ОтветитьIs that KurtJMac in the thumbnail?
ОтветитьSoC 5 watt goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Ответитьfeels insane to watch this on an arm64 device
ОтветитьI've just realised that every time somebody types something transphobic into their phone, they have a trans woman to thank for their phone.
ОтветитьIn the thumbnail, why is the guy from the BBC wearing 3D glasses?
ОтветитьI wish your back in action as before with the low spec gaming videos, with the steam deck in town. "Your not the hero we want, your the hero we deserve"❤
ОтветитьThe BBC movie called Micro Men from 2009 covers this story. Really a great little flick.
ОтветитьHuh, give me money and I will make a 512 bit computer.
Pssssht, weaksauce.
Yeah
ОтветитьThe more I hear/learn from the 70's 80's and 90's the more ashamed I am, that I can't even program a simple algorithm without stackoverflow, yet I had the same education asa they did. Now our days are spent fighting package managers and absurd deep tech stacks.
Ответитьthey made what was needed, not made what wasn't needed and marketed it hard
that's the difference between great and shitty world
YEAH WORK ETHIC CREATION MULTIVERSE UNIVERSE INVENTION EVERYTHING POSSIBLE CAN WORKING YEAH TRUTH BILLION PEOPLE'S LOVE BLESSING
ОтветитьI still own a atom and bbc .
ОтветитьGreat video except for one thing. The title. They were not "amateurs". They were highly trained professional engineers.
ОтветитьSo Wilson basically invented External GPUs...
ОтветитьYou're tech is everywhere and you aren't the one who did it. What a crazy world.
Ответитьmotorola 6800 or 68000? think u messed those 2, one is called, other is showed in numbers on video -.- ns32016 is cisc, and that matches what u wanted to say, i believe...
ОтветитьLEAKED CURRENT = GHOST PROCESSING
ОтветитьMOST POPULAR POWERFUL PROSPERITY PRIDE BE PEACE
ОтветитьIt’s just that people don’t have a choice, which piece of sh*t they give, then they eat ... ARM is not best CPU...
ОтветитьEste canal dejó de ser útil.
ОтветитьHello, LowSpecGamer! You know what, I randomly remembered your channel name while doing schoolwork. I just want to thank you for all the things you have done in the gaming community, especially to those who loved to game on their potato laptops or low-end PCs (I am one of them! I have finished the some of the arkham games and borderland games on a Toshiba Satellite C75D - during the windows 8 era).
I have my own PC now (I fumbled and built it last year!) but you have helped me tons during my teenage years playing the arkham and borderland games (rummaging around .ini files and turning TRUE and 1 values to FALSE and 0. Mannnn, the nostalgia hit hard. Now, I can run the games you've helped me "low-specc'ing" back then at the best graphics settings they can offer!
I was kinda shocked of the change in content, but with the others, we've got your back like you've had ours back in the days.
Again, I can't thank you enough. I wish you well in all your endeavors!
So, by "Amateurs", you mean professionals in a different sub-field of computer engineering.
ОтветитьJust.. man, mad respect to you for both the well researched - and highly entertainingly narrated - video and those animation/drawing skills, always a pleasure to watch your videos
Ответитьamateur is my favorite category 🤪
ОтветитьI learned about Acorn and their RISC Machines through an article about the gaming capabilities of the A3000 in a german computer gaming magazine called Power Play 😂
Google even showed me the scanned image of said article in issue 7/92 of the magazine, free to read for anyone. I remember beeing deeply impressed, but I could not even find a computer store who had one as a showcase model, at least in reach of my juvenile self in the rural area in Switzerland I grew up in.
Sons of the forest episode?
ОтветитьLove it. Although calling them amateurs is a bit of a stretch…. :)
ОтветитьYup, this was my life from almost day one to a few days after Acorn was uprooted. I am an Apple man now but I was forced to the Windoze machines for a decade first.
If you were around back then you may have read my articles in mags about the computers that came next - the Archimedes,
RISC was the hot new thing in the early 90s. If they only knew back then how dominate it would become because of cell phone 30 years later.
