She was always strong, people just didn't respect kuki

I think the problem is we rate characters based on their personal damage and how they can contribute to team dmg in the Abyss. When Kuki was released,she was a fairly complete character regardless of dendro. She was designed to be an HP-based healer that can also be built with EM so that she can still contribute to the over-all team dmg from elemental reactions. She can be slotted into electro-charged teams as a substitute for either Fischl or Beidou for survivability. However players tend to undervalue her bc her personal dmg from her skill/ultimate is not impressive, even if she can deal elemental reaction damage. Also, healers in general are not as valued compared to shielders and other support unit bc of “gitgud” mentality. Why would you need a healer if you just can just dodge? Which makes sense but is not as realistic for most casual players.

Overall I think Abyss viability ruins some of the design philosophy for recent characters and specially weapons. The pigeon-holed focus for damage has prevented hoyoverse to create really great weapon bc they want to increase this character’s dmg while ignoring their utility. Weapons like Kokomi’s Everlasting Moonglow and Baizhu’s Jadefall Regalia would have been a better weapon if they had a supportive passive effect. Why do you need kokomi and Baizhu deal more personal damage if it’s clear their role are as healers and shielders? They could have had great weapons that buff the team’s dmg but bc hoyoverse got distracted by abyss viability they went down the route of just increasing their personal damage instead of improving their support capabilities.

I frequently have her in a team with Alheitham and Nahida.

Kuki carried my team in the abyss.

I find Kuki Shinobu very useful in my team with Nahida, Xingqiu, and Nilou. I know this means I don't use Nilou's passive, but its just easier / simpler to use with Kuki and the damage output is more than sufficient for any content I am playing.

I will say, one huge buff to Kokomi was the addition of Ocean-Hued Clam, which came after her release. It gave her a higher damage output via 4pc and also added to her healing bonus for scaling.

I was pissed off when i pulled her 3 times, well i think i am happy now

I remember the old leaks back then, when some said Kuki will be released in 2.5 as Yae's dedicated support.

Been using her even before Dendro came out. She was the most consistent healer I had and I need a defensive support to survive anything. Foods are too much of a hastle. Now I with dendro she is in my Tighnari, Fischl, Cookie, Kazuha team busting bosses and mobs like never before. If I can get Nahida on her Rerun tho Kazuha is gonna switch out.

I love using kuki as a personal healer for my cyno. I had survivability issues with my team of cyno, layla, dendro traveler and fischl as laylas shield duration does not match cynos burst duration. Shinobu basically replaced layla and fishl in my team and allowed me to put in yelan fo hydro application.

I am so happy I leveled her before and than starting main Yae Miko before dendro so when dendro came I had 2 amazing electro units. (Definitely didn’t built both of them when they released because they were hot)

Even though she’s gotten better overtime I still don’t like the fact that her skill takes away her health.

She's absolutely amazing in Alhaitham's spread teams. Nahida or DMC can be the other dendro and you can bring Raiden/Fischl/Yae in the final position. Kuki heals Alhaitham while bringing enough electro for Spread reactions to keep triggering. Chef's kiss.

This made me realize, if Amber's burst was electro, then she would suddenly be great on dendro teams

Hyperbloom made kuki a beast.

I think she works well with Alhaitham and xinque.

3 months later now we have nahida she is by far the strongest electro for hyperbloom teams. Personally pair her with ayato and pump Mina for some insane 80k bloom crits

3.4 is literally tomorrow and I just had a thought. Alhaitham hyperbloom with Shinobu, xinchou, and Yelan

i found her (shinobu) quite playable prior to the dendro drop. to the point i was annoyed i only pulled her on one account and not both.

Her kit made lots of sense when dendro dropped.
