Just about every take this guy has contains bias against the Lexus. I assume it’s because those cars do not provide his shop with much billable repair labor. But WOW!! The Mercedes has (heavy) chrome inside the door jam!!!! Total hack video.

Lexus unashamedly compare themselves to Mercedes, remember Lexus is better built, more reliable and was cheaper by a large margin and don't forget the J D Power surveys. The Lexus displayed in the video was lower spec than most. Car Wizard lost on this video.

2 years later and I’m still burning the Wizard up for this. He knows the LS430 is pure awesomeness and the greatest Merc wishes it was an LS. Heck, Ford’s CEO drove one and commented that it was the greatest car ever made. PERIOD.

Seems like this guy is a Mercedes fan . Lexus ls 430 is one hell of a machine and it is way more comfortable than mercedes. The sound proofing in Lexus is way better than Mercedes. And moreover , lexus are made to last. Lexus does not go the mechanic every other day . But mercedes does

Americans are becoming poor now if their best Luxury car is Lexus. Not even in Japan or any part around the world that value Lexus the way poor Americans value Lexus and Toyota. No wonder all your Taxis are just common Camry. Here in Africa we see Lexus as just cheap Mercedes or just an upgrade Toyota. Mechanics here can easily swap Highlander parts with Rx350 and Avalon parts with ES 300/350.
Only a fool or Poor Americans who nowadays can't afford to maintain Mercedes would ever think of comparing Cheap Lexus to Mercedes in terms quality design handling safety aerodynamics brakes, body structure and paint finish all these things Mercedes are way ahead of Lexus. All I hear American Lexus owners talk about is that you can put on 200-300k on Lexus as if you cant on Mercedes.. These days even Hyundai can easily makes 200k. A good car isn't only about how much mileage the engine can go...its like getting a woman you don't just say oh she's beautiful inside but outside are all garbage and cheap. In Germany taxis are C Class and can go half a million and still looks like new compared to any Japanese for that Mileage. It's like telling me Seiko watch is better than Rolex or Blancpain just because is cheaper to repair SEIKO. ALso Mercedes Mechanics in U.S and Canada are not good, even at the dealership, compared to Mercedes Mechanics in Europe or even a roadside Mercedes mechanics in middle, Africa or Asia knows how to work on Mercedes with ease

The W140 was the last true, solid built Mercedes. Afterwards the 220 became a tech focused cheaply built car with major reliability issues. Disposable cars, that’s why the 140 still drives beautifully and every S class afterwards has depreciated and is most likely in a shop.

The Mercedes is easier to work on and it better be because it's going to be.

He mentioned that he's seen these Mercedes go for 150,000 miles some even 200,000 miles. Lexus says hold my beer, I'm just getting broken in.

the door part is pure nonsense. C140 have that chrome thing because it's a coupe, w140 don't have that as well. Talking about the interior I got mix feeling about the old benzos and ls430. The ls430 obviously have better fitment, better plastic and thicker wood, but I don't like how they design the center console. If they make it looks like s180 Toyota crown it would be pure perfect

"I am not bashing the Lexus" after he bashes it the entire video. I like Wizard but he is the first mechanic i have seen that trashed an LS430. He points out the LS weak spots that are meaningless, then glosses over The UZ motors which are all aviation certified. They are known to go over 300- 500K miles. far more than the 150 to 200 he touts for the Benz. The Lexus were really over built but you wouldn't know it from this video. Toyota spent over 1 billion in development and it shows. The LS Engine is so quiet and smooth. I like the Benz but sorry the LS was a superior car. They also outsold the Mercedes for good reason. They are pretty DYI friendly too.

The engineering is what makes Mercedes repairs and parts so expensive.

The rear doors look similar to the W210 Mercedes but i disgare with Wzard with regards to the rear as its easily distinguishable or maybe cause im from Asia.

An interesting comparison, but not very fair, you are comparing peak mercedes from early 90ies, to a early 2000s LS. I really doubt a 2004 S class had those kinda doors

Lexus is the soulless version of the Mercedes. The Mercedes was 8 years older by the time they copied it.

Too many comparisons of gadgets and features give the Benz an advantage. This wasn’t really the goal for Lexus with the LS430. They wanted to create the smoothest and quietest car, and they succeeded.

How does this comparison make sense? First of, this is a C140 not a W140. The C140 is not just "a 2 door S Class". Its trim is a little higher than that of a S Class, just a little. You wont find the chrome metal covered door trims on the S Class and I'm sure you also wont find the trunk handle on the S Class. Also: the W220 is the equivalent to the LS430.l which also has plastic headlights that start to yellow. That's just how cars were build in the early 2000s. Pretty biased comparison.

This video hasn't aged well, Wizard. You got SO many things wrong on the 430. It's weird to watch you fawn over a Merc, and basically trash the Lexus; and not only a Lexus, but probably the greatest one that will ever be made. The 430 is an absolute paragon of quality. 💯 🤷

Even the parking sensors? 😅 Lol really? We're they to be places on the roof? And shaped as leaves? If this is what mercedes had come up with in the same era, Lexus clearly out did them with the refined lines and not even start with the quality and longevity.

150k miles is your benchmark for quality? Most Lexus ls430 s out there are well above 300k.
