Did you have to remove starting motor to unbolt torque converter plate to allow you to separate the gearbox from the engine?
I think i can see the starter motor still in place, not sure if it is required. Thanks.

NEVER have taken out an engine in a vw, Audi, or cayenne wit the chains n the back to do a chain job!! I don’t understand why people Insist it can’t be done🤦🏾 Done it several times on the vr6’s too!

Did you take the engine out or moved it from it's place? From what I can see you haven't. I see that you removed just the gearbox? Correct if I'm seeing wrong.

I have 2016 Audi A7 TDI. I broke the glow. I am at the stage where I have to replace the driver side cylinder head.
Please tell me that for this job,
1) Does engine have to be dropped or it can be done with engine on?
2) Does timing chain has to come off?
3) My car has 116,000km, and from 96,000 when I bought it, I did oil change after every 10,000km or when car says on display, so is it still good to replace timing chain and related parts, while engine is out or I can skip that? I do 90% highway driving.
Please do reply cuz once finalized I have to tow my car to mechanic shop.
4) To do Cylinder head replacement and timing chain, how many hours job it will be? One shop told me total 26 hrs, is it correct??

Ask a stupid question here but, are you not bothering to line the coloured links up because it could take up to 50 revolutions(guess) to line up? Instead you just make sure all the slack is on the tensioner side and that the marks on gears line up? Great vid

I have several questions about this job. 1) where are the timing marks. 2) why does vw have the slack in the gears? What do they adjust and why? 3) do you just tighten the gears down and the computer adjusts the timing or what?
