A 2 foot thick oak, which is one of the hardest trees, cut down by black powder shots going less than half the speed of modern rounds is crazy. It must have been hit thousands of times in the same spot.

The Southern independence movement during the War of Northern Aggression was started because of various factors, including economic considerations and states' rights. The Southern states heavily relied on the agricultural industry, particularly the production of cotton, which was a major driver of their economy. They believed that the federal government should not interfere with their right to govern themselves and make decisions that would be most beneficial for their region.

It is important to note that the Southern states felt that their way of life was being threatened by what they considered aggressive actions from the North. They argued that the Constitution granted them the right to secede from the Union if they believed it was necessary to protect their interests and preserve their traditions.

While it is essential to acknowledge the complexities associated with this period of history, it is also important to understand the Southern perspective and the factors that influenced their decisions. By considering these viewpoints, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the events and motivations that shaped the War of Northern Aggression.

And the Slave Issue never entered the
Civil War until 1863.
When Abraham Lincoln became desperate for warm bodies to fight his War.

When Abraham Lincoln did his call for 75,000 troops, for 90 day service:
By 1863 these Union Soliders duties were over by 1863: And they went home and would NOT re enlist. Add in the numerous Union casaulties from numerous battles. And Abraham Lincoln was desperate for warm bodies...
So Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Act andcthe Conscription Act
At the SAME TIME...
And the Emancipation Act only Frees the Slaves "In the States he was at War with." When Delaware and Connecticut had more slavess, in them than the entire South.
Abraham Lincoln and his new Republican believed if they could FREE the Slaves, that they could declare them Citizens and they could Conscript them into his UNION ARMY.

92% of the Southerners that fought in the Civil War DID NOT OWN SLAVES.
For they were Small 40 acre to 160 acre Dirt Farmers.
Only 8% of the Southerners, that fought in the Civil War owned Slaves.
And the War was with "Dixie" concerning Slaves.. What once was the "Louisiana Common Wealth," owned by FRANCE!

Fun Fact: It was Russia who saved The Union during the American Civil War as they sent their Navy to San Francisco and New York when England and France were just about to enter the war on the side of the Confederates since London created the Confederates. France was already in Mexico making a spear head movement to resupply the Confederates and to open up a Pacific Theatre and to create a port in California. England already amassed 11,000 troops and growing stationed at their Northern Confederacies border now called Canada ready to open a Northern Theatre to divert Union troops away from their Southern Confederacy then to attack The Unions naval blockade. The Union would have been completely destroyed and annexed by those two great powers leaving the Confederates to exist as a puppet state of London.

London was already courting (threatening/bribing) other countries to get involved like Spain while Russia was in talks with Prussia to ally with incase London was to intervene.
Seeing all of this Tsar Alexander II wrote a letter to Queen Victoria saying “If you enter in this war it will be a casus belli for all out war with the Russian Empire”. The stage was set for the 1st World War and Russia stopped it.

There is also a memorial in San Francisco for the
hundreds of Russian sailors who came off their Asiatic fleet ships that died while helping the city put out a fire that threatened to lay waste to it during the War.

What are you talking about?
Obviously you do not know who the American People are.
Here it is 2023 and the American Confederacy is NOT dead.. And Never has been.
The Americans took the Confederacy off SHORE by 1861. And they remained Invested in both North and South, "Because their is nothing like a good War for making money."
After the War and the elimination of Abraham Lincoln: The Wealthy Southerners went back into business rebuilding of America.

What you are also omitting here is the Events in the North that transpired. And the ENTIRE USA was in STARVATION!
And Abraham Lincoln and his Union Army was looting and burning, and pillaging businesses, homes and FARMS, Murdering Civilian Northerners.
And the ENTIRE USA was just days from exploding into a Battle Ground. And many Northern Civillians had already went South..
Riots were every where across the ENTIRE USA.
Research the FACTUAL American people of this generation who lived the
Civil War Era?

the Confederates were offered amnesty and shown grace. it is an example of magnanimity that wasn't deserved and shouldn't have been given. Those men and their descendants became terrorists who to this day try to tear our nation apart. The modern Republican party has been captured by the same kind of people whose hubris causes them to value white supremacy over liberal democracy.

technically the "civil war" was NOT a civil war...it was one established government fighting another..a TRUE civil war is civilians fighting civilians, once a civilian is conscripted into the federal military they are not a civilian...it is called a civil war because civilians are fighting each other intrnally...the CSA had an established government and a president..it was a foreign invasion and occupation by the USA...very similar to Russia and Ukraine

to be fair to Meade, he couldn't go after Lee since he was under orders to guard D.C at all cost and it was raining heavily that week which made the terrain ugly and gave Lee time to build trenches and fortifications while waiting for the Potomac to lower down to cross it. Meade attacking Lee after Gettysburg would have been a disaster for Meade.
