Would it be better to just have a driver with a shorter shaft instead? I'm trying to figure how a mini driver is more easier to hit than a driver whcih has a bigger head with shorter shaft. Is it the loft or does it have to do with the smaller head (more aerodynamic?) Curious is all, not trying to make a statement.

Michael, I put an adapter on an XStiff bubble shaft. I really want to mount this bead on that thing!!

I just don't see a need for a mini driver, with the adjustable 3 woods already on the market its redundant.

I play the 300 mini in 11.5 turned down to 9.5. My avg numbers are right around 290 with 2200 spin. It does indeed sit square now. It’s an amazing weapon.

I've been replacing my 3-wood with several generations of the Mini Driver since the first one emerged in the SLDR series. I seldom hit it off the turf, but I can. (I prefer to hit a 3-hybrid). Frankly, this club is my "fairway finder." Deadly accurate and about 20 yds shorter than my driver. I hit it from the tee more frequently than I do my driver, and it caused me to really tweak my driver to ensure I was maxing it out and making it valuable to carry both. Because I set it at 13.5 degrees, and because of its weight distribution, I can it it off the deck.

Of the four generations of the Mini, I've gamed 3. This one is utterly superior to previous versions, and it isn't even close.

Does it travel further off the deck than a 3 wood, if it’s the same or less then it’s only use is as a driver replacement

I watched this video and bought this mini briver yesterday. Today I played very stable, no OB, no off the fairway.

I would want this as more of a 3 wood replacement, but that deep face makes it harder to hit than it should be. Shallow out the face a touch and were gold. 13.5 is still 13.5 no matter what. I like it, but it's not for me. It's not going to fit in the bag. I carry my 3 wood now 260ish.

Are there only two shaft options for this club?

Good review, but you didn't say anything about the shaft or flex options. What shaft were you hitting with 108 swing speed and what shaft would you recommend for 115-120 mph? Thanks.

Great review. Off the tee would you hit up as in driver or tee lower and hit down slightly like a 3 or 5 wood?

This seems like the TSR2 - 3 wood plus. 13.5 degrees meant for the tee.

Hi Michael loved your review 👍, used 2 Wood 30+ years ago & loved it (a wooden Haig Ultra) Think this New Club is a great idea with all the modern improvements it’s a Winner, think the loft at 13.5 is perfect Thanks Dickey 9hcp 76year senior golfer

So the degrees its a stronglofted 3 wood.
And that's a perfect fit both from the turf and tee.
I has one it was unfortunate lost but it was a rocket flew about 330

So more or less its like an old driver size head. But with way more loft.
Yes today drivers are way to big

13.5 degree with a left hand loft sleeve, up to 15 and “open” face and you have your 3 wood replacement

I hit the driver Ok, but prefer the look of a smaller head. Going to get the 11.5, dial it down to 9.5 and put a full length driver shaft in it.

Is the adapter compatible with a Taylormade driver adapter? (so you could put a driver shaft in the head)

Devils advocate: why not just put a 3-wood shaft in your regular driver or the 43.75" shaft? You're going to loose a little club head speed so maybe you want to increase the loft a little but maybe what you lose in club head speed, you gain by improving contact?

Never understood this club over the years. Harder than a 3 wood of the deck as hard if not harder to hit as a driver. Only place i like it is instaed of a 3 wood of a tee.

I think the last overview of the shot grouping says it all. The white dots in the middle of the fairway would be the way to go imo.

I do love me a good 2-wood: this makes me super curious, always, but the deep face definitely seems to make this mini-driver favor the alternative tee club duty vs. fairway howitzer.

I am wondering who is this for. Bigger the head, easier to hit but this is smaller (315cc?), can not hit like a FW Woods. May be this is for those single digit players.

A truly pointless club imo. I’ve owned the SLDR mini and the Original one Mini Driver in the past and they spent very little being used. My intention was to use both as 3 wood replacements ( I had the 13.5) and all they did was making ( picking it) impossible off a fairway. It does neither well… as a driver or a 3W replacement

Nice review Mike. The one combo you didn't try was with it lofted down and the heavy weight in the back. I'd like to see how that impacted the numbers/dispersion.

I play the blackout taylormade mini . I turned loft to 13.5 and use a ventus black 3 wood shaft . Very accurate 260 club for me . great club in my bag because i don't really ever have the need to hit a 260 shot from the deck.

Callaway's Mini Driver is still very hard to find and fairly pricey. I think they had the right idea and the right size. The mini burner from TaylorMade has always been too big to actually hit off the deck. They need to decrease the size to about 260 CC.

Thanks for reviewing and showing the data for weight forward and loft down/face open as I ordered in the 13.5 to do just that. Lots of reviews don’t understand the want/need for mini drivers but for me into wind when you can’t go left (when I’m prone to hooking driver into wind) I think ball on lower tee with face angle and lower spin/flight will be a great addition to the bag.
