Hey John! Just updated to 2.3.14. Two questions. Have you looked into the new Forward Programming module? And, when I update my SD card, I noticed in the sounds file there were a number of what looked like language abbreviations. Should update all or just the EN file? Thanks for your input! CA Jim

Great tutorial! This took the worry out of updating OTX and screwing up my settings!
After doing this update, I too "lost" my custom background image. I realized that this occurs when you update the SD Card contents. The file named "Background.png" in the Themes folder is overwritten by the default image of the same name. Not a problem if you back up your SD Card Contents first! ;-)

Very informative and helpful video. Just updated opentx to 2.3.13 Always a bit nervous updating firmware even though its always come out fine. Thanks for sharing. 🤓

John,when will open tx enable touch screen?

Thank you for this great video. I was able to update my firmware but the upgrade to the SD card did not happen. How now do I get those files into my TX16s. This is a new radio for me and it came with 2.3.09. Help Mr.Wizard! Jim

I did the firmware upgrade and it worked perfectly, thank you! But I now realise I should not have selected AETR but TAER. (I want to fly the spektrum bnf models) Can I just change this setting in my radio or do I have to redo the firmware because of the AETR selection I made ?(just like in your video)

Hello, I have a stock version of Firmware from the manufacture. Don't know the exact version but my question is: Shell I Update it to the latest version? Is there any significant improvement? So far I don't have any problem. So if is worth to update or not :-)

I just flashed open tx 2.3.11 to my radio master TX16s max it had 2.3.9 on it everything was ok! The Flashing was successful but now my crossfire keeps dropping telemetry and dynamic power is on but it’s in 50z mode! Is there a fix?

trying to update TXs16 when I drag my file over to the sd card it tells me not enough space? everything was going so smoothly until then. Thx

I followed these steps and after I was finished my mode 1 button was lit up with the radio off. I powered it on, all was OK, then when I powered it off it went into emergency mode and cannot be powered off. Any ideas?

Since i flashed my TX16-s with this new open tx my SF switch doesnt register in beta flight anymore and i cant arm my quad anymore. I setup another switch for arm and It is armed in betaflight but i just doesnt arm in reallife and i dont know what to do anymore. I can spin all my motors all fine with betaflight but i just cant get it to spin in the relal world with my new opentx radiomaster

Thank you! Actually upgraded to 2.3.11 with your help. I am on a Jumper T18 and in all of my attempts to upgrade to this version my bootloader screen is now upside down. Still works but is is annoying. Maybe I'll try to upgrade or at least reload the bootloader.

Late comment. I'm done with Horizon junk. Been fighting a ix12 for 3+ years. Love my aging DX9, but not enough channels.Trying this TS16s Max due to needing 12 channels for my 90" gas spitfire! Glad I found you! Steep learning curve with this protocol(s), but you are a huge help. Tx again my friend, and I will be following you. I have been flying RC for over 40 years. Glad younger folks are getting into the hobby. Don't tell the wife, but I have owned over 100 planes/helicopters/boats/drones dozens of radios. Micro to giant scale. Make a lot of 3D parts. Have a Flash forge Dreamer, CR 10x-Pro, and a LDR2, resin. My work gives me access to Siemens NX12 power cadd program. If you need anything designed and made, maybe we could hook up.

Man that input screen dot problem was driving me crazy. I didn't know if it was just my radio or a firmware /update problem. I knew on Betaflight that the display was not reading true on the radio display but was operating the throws correctly. I was relieved when you showed us you knew of the problem and it was fixed with this update!! Mine is fixed now too because of your help. Thank you sir.

nice, but i have problem after upgrade, i cannot select plane when create new model. only glider. how to solve this? apreciate if you have same problem

Can you change the Tx power level on the radiomaster tx16s like you can on the jumper t8sg?

If you completely wiped SD contents that your TX16 came with how do you restore that? And no backup copy.

Thanks for your video John: Analysing the content of the old and new SD card would be interesting. Off course custom pictures and sounds themes are obvious but which data does we alter with our Radiomaster whiteout knowing. I ask myself, is it possible for the developers of the OpenTX software to leave all settings and pictures of the costumer transmitter alone because only put the sound file aside won’t do the trick.
In the past I had a Garmin on my dashboard that change settings after update and that was quiet annoying.
John could you throw a line and ask the OpenTX developers. It would make live for thousands of OpenTX users much easier.

Turns out upgrading openTX on linux works totally differently (no need to turn on into bootloader mode, just plug in to USD while radio is off) :)

John, can you please help? Just got my tx16s yesterday (didn't need it, love my Qx7 but couldn't help myself in lieu of all the new cheap jumper and radiomaster receivers) - it feels like the internal module of the tx16s should bind with an frsky R9 receiver. Am I crazy? There is an option under "Multi" for Frsky "RX" as in R8 R9, etc. Am I nuts?

I updated the device as in the video, the firmware update was fast, but the SD space was small and 58 MB was missing for updating all the files. The original SD of the tx16s is 250MB.
I changed to a bigger card, all the files have been updated and everything works 100/100.
