Can disabling sync take up to 72 hours to complete and convert the users to cloud only? And if does take up to 72 hours to convert the users to cloud only, how can you monitor the progress of the user conversions?

if after following this procedure and then uninstalling 'AD Connect' from Onprem, can I reinstall it and sync up again without trouble ? or will it overwrite things in AAD etc ?

What happens if you have 2 forests and 1 tenant, then you disable the AAD Connect sync and allow everything to convert to cloud, then re-enable the AAD Connect sync with one of the domains de-selected in Azure AD Connect?

Would it "reconnect" the accounts back with the domain still set to sync and leave the other domain users in cloud?
Would user passwords remain the same?

Hi, thank you for the help... I had total chaos with the sync not working and I was not able to make any changes to the users in the O365 admin console. After killing the sync all is well... thank you !!!

This helped me so much, thank you thank you! Not only did it move our users from on-prem to cloud, it converted our distribution groups and contacts to cloud based so we can manage in M365. It also allows for easy reversal. Absolutely helpful in every way!!

Thanks a lot for the video. Should I delete the server in Azure Active Directory Servers to stop receiving sync error alerts?

how about we have two onprem servers sync to o365? we will only disable one server. does the users authentication remains on cloud if disable only one server adconnect? from your illustration it seems you disconnect syncing in azure ad and will probably disconnect 2 of our ad onprem servers if following this step
