For me my favorite builds of Jamie's are the homemade flamethrower and the Lil' Pop Gun. I've always admired that you guys can just *make things*. Like, there are no instructions for how to build an air cannon that shoots pop, but he just went and did it
ОтветитьHi Adam, can you increase the volume of the recorded audio by a few db for your future videos?
ОтветитьStill love your work Adam, all these years later.
However, I learned that you CAN make a lead balloon, but you SHOULDN'T.
Also, I can't tell you how happy it made me to see the ping pong ball episode. I read that comic as a kid, and wondered about it for YEARS. Finally you made it come true. Satisfaction!
Listening to this and a live stream of the otters at Monterey Bay Aquarium pops up in my feed
ОтветитьI’ve always enjoyed Mythbusters, and it was one of my best friend’s favorite shows too. He was more like you, and I had more of the Jamie outlook on things. He passed away unexpectedly a couple years ago, but watching you brings back the good memories I had with him. You and Jamie might not have been more than coworkers, but man, the relationship you had impacted me a lot, and I still see my old friend in you.
ОтветитьThanks - ROFL with the otter story
BTW the Disney character - ISTR - was Scrouge McDuck, not Googie or Pluto.
It's always crazy to hear they Jamie and Adam weren't friends. They always seemed so chummy when you saw them together.
Ответитьas an old og mythbusters fan I fucking love that this is Adam's channel now. I get the same good feeling watching these as I did mythbusters. Love you Adam!
ОтветитьLead ballon and Hindenburg are my 2 favorite episodes period
ОтветитьStory I heard... Years ago an executive of an aluminum foil company was speaking to a "ladies" club and mentioned the difficulty they were having making very thin foil. No matter how much weight was applied the rollers couldn't press it thin enough. One of the women in the audience asked, "what if you put two sheets through at once?"
That solved the problem.
Two dudes with a bunch of people helping, trying to make a completely useless thing, out of the worst material imaginable.
-- Adam Savage, all in a day's work
The one who asked this question was THE David Griffiths?
ОтветитьClassic German engineering lol
ОтветитьThat otter story was so cute omggg
ОтветитьRosa gang rise up!
ОтветитьHelbig, the guy that invented raising a boat with small plastic, air tight balls. Not ping pong balls, somewhat larger and more resilient, like the play center balls at McDonald's. My Mother was the in home practical RN for the Helbig family in Phoenix circa 1968, Mr Helbig taught me about prisms and rainbows and told me his Son had invented a system using plastic balls to raise sunken boats; this was never a Myth that needed busting! Helbig, look it up.
ОтветитьThis is the approach I used with an acquaintance who had ideas for his business.
First I thought abot his idea and what it's flaws were then take the time to come up with a more workable solution.
When you focus on what's right instead of who's right, you converge on better ideas
ОтветитьThat story about the otter is hilarious! Thanks for sharing :)
ОтветитьIt'a always sooo strange to me to hear Adam say that him and Jamie were not friends, or even friendly. The entirety of the show, I always imagined them being close friends. I took their occasional arguing as just sort of busting each others balls...like close friends do.
ОтветитьLove all that u do Bob from Salem Massachusetts
ОтветитьWhat kept them from being friends? Political views? Religious beliefs? What was it? I really never knew they weren’t till a few years ago maybe?? I do remember that ping pong ball episode

ОтветитьI appreciate your relationships. This was when I could watch TV and enjoy every episode of something ingenious and new. Two opposites, two genius minds on that TV show. It doesn’t get any better…it wasn’t only entertainment, it was inspiration 👊🏼
ОтветитьI wish I could be as knowledgeable and as efficiently communicative on 2/1000ths of the subjects, skills, disciplines that Adam so deftly navigates.
ОтветитьThat oscillating Swiss Army Knife up high in the background is super cool.
ОтветитьOne of the more entertaining aspects of this show was comparing and contrasting the difference in personalities between Jamie and Adam and the creative imagination evidenced in their methodologies leading to a solution.
Jamie is from the Midwest and has a rather dour personality. Adam is originally from the Northeast but transplanted to Northern California has adopted the stereotypical dope-smoking hipster vibe of the Bay Area, whose proponents always claim fuels creativity.
Yet Jamie's ideas were usually more creative and right. As stereotypical Californian, Adam, would say, "Amazing"!
Car chassies and some smaller boats are at times thoroughly cleaned and dumbped into sea wildlife reserves because it becomes a base for new coral reefs which in turn house and feed SO SO SO many animals of different species.
ОтветитьAdam explaining how thick something is with fractions of an inch... So confusing. Just use metric! 😂
Ответитьthat Otter probably thought it saw a Walrus
ОтветитьGeez, only took 7.5 minutes to finally start to answer the question
ОтветитьDude. You spent HALF the clip talking about yourself instead of answering the question. Self absorbed and narcissistic much?
ОтветитьI think no matter the time, San Francisco streets smell of urine and feces.
ОтветитьThe smell of weed, piss and feces?
ОтветитьI love how you can show your appreciation for someone that we all know you had trouble working with. It's always a very gracious thing to recognize the value and talents of a person you have personal/professional difficulties with.
ОтветитьProbably smells of feces in the street tbh.
ОтветитьWhile ping-pong balls are incredibly buoyant, they are also deceptively heavy. Back in the 70s, a mathematician told the USAF that he could prevent a C-5 Galaxy cargo plane from taking off, by loading it with nothing but ping-pong balls.
Some 17+ billion balls and 10,000 feet of runway later, he was proven right. 6 months later they were STILL pulling ping-pong balls out of little pockets in the cargo compartment.
The more story's Adam talks about between him and Jamie, the more I'm starting to get the feeling they were just work friends and jamie hasn't realised it yet
ОтветитьJamie's most terrifying build for me was the lawnmower from hell and when the blade shaft breaks and the blade fly's still rotating 😮😅😂😂😂
ОтветитьLove the intro on this one!! lol. When do you find it hardest to be as honest as you are? Thank you lighthouse of integrity.
ОтветитьAdam has to be one of the most interesting persons in the world.
ОтветитьYou're confusing fractions. 2,000th of an inch is smaller than 1,000th of an inch.
ОтветитьLead balloon. Possible, yes theoretically, but it was necessary to find a balance between the theoretically available lift from a lighter than air gas and the weight of the envelope that could be sustained.
I didn't believe it could be done.
Cudos, Adam.
adam gets baked confirmed
ОтветитьDo you know how thick the lead in "O'Sullivans lead ballon", otherwise known as ECHO #1 communications satellite?
Ответить
