Why does it have to be driving wheels? You guys do know 4 stroke engines - even 5 cylinder 4 stroke radial engines up to 400cc exist (Moki brand) for radio controlled planes, right? I have a 180cc one for example. But 2 stroke gas engines for giant RC planes are far more common, going up to like 200cc. Some smaller 4 stroke engines (20cc to 60cc) are not as common as their 2 stroke counterparts due to cost.

Wow that's the best explanation I've seen so far. A pity though that compression release mechanism (on the cam) isn't covered, which is what I need to look into:) But thumbs up for this video, it's better than the animations I've seen because it shows the actual hardware.

So how does the combustion happen in the bottom half of a 2 stroke if there isnt 2 spark plugs

sorry to say but it was never stated how the combustion occurs in a 2 stroke engine. Obviously with a 4 stroke it’s a spark plug, but with a 2 stroke if I’m not mistaking it is a long shaft piece which heats up and ignites the combustion cycle from my understanding.

I raced motocross my early years on a 2 stroke, once my kid is a bit older, I'll look for a pw50 or a sx 50 and get myself a kawasaki 250 4 stroke (I like the amount of adjustments available on the kawasaki, as im only 5'1)

When i was in school for this, they loved to teach out of a book, but i learned way more from this video. i can see the movement and understand better about the rotation. Books do not show this movement so you have to picture it and not see it. Its hard to work out of a book sometimes.

There is one feature on two strokes that you did not mention that is porting the top of the piston by machining channels in the top of the piston.
