For this uke can you use D'addario flurocarbon strings?
ОтветитьHello there , is this beginner friendly or is it for intermediate level?
ОтветитьHello. what do you recommend me Enya nova u pro or this Flight ? I'm looking for a travel ukulele. Thanks.
ОтветитьHello
Just watched you latest vud re Flight carbon saprano.
Well funny i just treated myself to a flight soprano model tus 50. Travel.
Just wanted to say loved you views on the carbon fibre ish.
Loved the strumming pattern etc, would love to know how to play like that.
Been learning since pandemic. Great video
Finally, finally, finally they now have this Ukulele in the USA.
You betn I have ordered one already.
Thank you for the review. I was struggling whether to buy the a TUS or the UTS, so I needed exactly this video :) Could you weigh the two ukuleles, please? When I am hiking Im trying to save each gramm.
ОтветитьPlease clarify for this American fan, what does "I don't think there's a lot in it" mean? I've learned a lot from your reviews and this one has especially piqued my interest - thanks!
ОтветитьDanke!
Ответитьhey ! what would you recommend for a tenor ukulele pricing 100-150 $
ОтветитьVery interesting instrument. Thanks as ever
ОтветитьI'm a believer in plastic ukes. I'm glad you review them. This one seems less substantial than some you've reviewed but it sounded very good and looks like like very good value.
ОтветитьNice review. Would love to see you review more baritone ukes when and if you get a chance. Thank you
ОтветитьThe wooden top of the original flight travel is what made me go for the Enya nova as my camping & boating ukulele. But I did like the tone quality of the flight travel on all the video reviews. I am glad they came out with a different model that's much more resilient to water! Could be a real contender in the waterproof market!
ОтветитьThank you for this review Barry!
I own the long neck soprano with the wooden top. With Worth Clear strings the sound is fantastic.
they still cant get the tuners right horrible tuners .no exuse sopranos all need friction tuners sopranos all look bad with those pegs poking out the side there to big and you cant make them small so why bother .but these companies either dont get it or dont care maybe it is about money of course .and most dont complain so we must spend a little more to replace these .which i add into the cost i dont like geared tuners on sopranos .thanks for the review barry best wishes
ОтветитьLove your reviews as always! I have a flight travel concert scale soprano as my first uke, and enjoy it very much, but the waterproof one sounds great also! I personally am waiting patiently for you to review the flight iris, and compare to the anuenue uc 10 👍
ОтветитьMy first ever soprano was this awful cheap as chips thing, though seemed alright at the time, have upgraded several times since, but always with concerts, tenors, and baritones! I do want to get a really decent soprano, but don't like the idea of having fewer frets (though I know I can get a long neck). This looks like a nice way to reconnect with a soprano size, and actually get a plastic one I can move around with. When I think about it, I don't play an awful lot up the dusty end, only a bit, so don't know why I bemone sopranos has a few less frets to play with. Anyway, £55, so gonna grab one!
ОтветитьYay! I liked the SUS review of this, but they do sell them so I'm glad you got your hands on one. Alex says they sometimes need a set-up which is why he recommends getting it from a proper uke shop. Very true normally, but with the non removable bridge, what's left to set up? I'd support stores like SUS anyway, because they're awesome, but what about the retailers that like to charge for setting up instruments? Would that be a little bit opportunistic of them I wonder?
Very keen to get my hands on one of these puppies. Great for knocking around with, I can set this being ideal for teaching kids with and for days on the beach, and for leaving in the car with no worries etc. Great value for money. Tuners are a bit yucky though, a truly minor gripe.
Always invaluable information ✌🏼❤️
ОтветитьHi Baz, thanks for the review hun. Can I just ask about the headstock please? When I bought the original travel Uke from Flight I found the headstock rather sharp on the edges. It actually hurt my hand. Has that remained the same or is it more bevelled? I want to love them so much but because of my experience with the sharp edges on the headstock I sold the orginal travel Uke. Thank you. Great review as always. The sound to me on the new Flight Travel Uke is much improved.
ОтветитьI really like the design of the holes on the bridge. The whole Uke looks good and sounds good too. I thought the one with the wooden top sounded broader, but this one has a more focused sound. I do not like the bag it comes with. I know the Uke is strong, but I would still get some type of lightly padded gig bag for it. The price is wonderful so buying a simple padded bag would be a personal choice. Thanks for the review. I will definitely this one in mind if I need to replace my plastic travel uke. I almost lost it to the river last summer. I'm glad I didn't for the sake of the river.
ОтветитьThanks for your review! It would be too heavy for a travel ukulele, and for a normal soprano anyway. I prefer my old plastic Mastro TV.Pal, which weighs about half as much. Admittedly, the sound of the TV.Pal is worse. 😆 It's a pity that Flight wasn't more consistent and didn't make the body flatter. I like the design of the neck better than on the normal Flight travel ukuleles, where the attempt to imitate wood with plastic has completely failed. Nevertheless, with these ukuleles you get a lot of value for the low price.
ОтветитьHNY Baz. Nice to see you start the new year with affordable and, on this occasion, a good choice. I have owned, donated and given away a half dozen Flight Tus sopranos (4- 3 standard necks and one long neck)and Tuc 2 concerts. I have had three Enya Nova sopranos. Spreading the love of ukuleles to local schools. Anyway, I kept a yellow standard neck Flight as I think it sounds the best of the bunch compared with the somewhat brighter long neck version, the somewhat flatter sounding concert and the considerably brighter Enya. The Enya does have a nice sound too just different. But I prefer the feel and texture of the Enya. Now seeing that this new version of the Tus more closely emulates the Enya, this is a very interesting and worthwhile upgrade.
ОтветитьIf I was going on sound it would be the old one, if I was going on looks and waterproofing it would be the new one
ОтветитьThanks, Barry! That sounds like a cracking little uke. I do like waterproof ukes, and bought an Enya Soprano after reading your review. Really accurately made - the intonation was spot on - something that I find I need. Had much fun with it in the bath! But the arthritis is now taking its toll, and I am struggling to play sopranos and many concert ukes. Tenors can be OK, but I'll be on Baritones Only in another year.
FYI - there's an affordable ABS soprano on eBay UK you might approve of?
It plays really well out of the box, with one exception, the nut needs to be tweaked. It then has near-perfect intonation on its Aquila strings, and sounds good too. It's a bargain, at under £17 delivered for the plain one... from 'jumpingflea-tc ' - no connections other than as a happy customer. I bought a couple and fettled them up, gave one to my son-in-law, and the other has now gone too, since 'The Arthur' is asserting itself. <sigh> 🎵🎶🎼
Love your comments about all the "carbon fiber" ukuleles in the market. Looks like an interesting and fun uke, great for beginners. For me the lack of an adjustable bridge or saddle would be a deal breaker, but probably not for the intended audience.
ОтветитьNice improvements👍👍
ОтветитьThanks for highlighting another cheap-but-good uke! Polycarbonate is especially important in case my shelf of instruments collapses. ;-)
ОтветитьI like the wooden top one better, also better looking.
ОтветитьNice looking uke, Flight are really good a fairly priced
ОтветитьHey Baz you know this plastic Flight sounds much better and very very close to a wooden ukulele sound. As you know I love the soprano and for the price this is great not only for travel but for young beginners. I agree totally.. good job Flight!..thanks ….DOC
ОтветитьI think Flight have upped the game on this one. Sounds better than the travel. I have a travel and find the strings are a bit bendy. This one certainly sounds better and am thinking I might get one. Thanks Barry
ОтветитьI have the eny and I don't like the overtones resonance it's just unnatural sounding. Is this one similar?
ОтветитьIt really sound's like a plastic uke to be fair, but with some good build quality. And it works as a decent sturdy instrument.
- And your review was really unbiased and fair.
Yo, as expected: a great fun banger! Cool color in this case too. Almost like a retro surfer 🏄♀️ lilac. What is up w\ the tuner blades though? Don’t like these at all! Take wood away (soundboard) but add metal!? Somewhat counterpoints the whole concept, doesn’t it?
ОтветитьSounds like a toy to me. Maybe because I don't have any non wooden ukes.
ОтветитьWe’ve got four of the Flight travels in our family. They are decent instruments and they are basically indestructible- perfect for the grandkids and travel. I’m really excited about this new series- can’t wait for the concert size!
ОтветитьLooks like you had a bit of fun with this Uke. Love the ANueNue in the back.
ОтветитьThe original had the advantage of the number of frets. I'm one of those people who like to use more than 12 frets. :-) I also managed to get the original top wet a couple of times, it even had a dip in the ocean once. It still plays great, really, must be bc of the laminate, though the tuners got a bit rusty... Maybe it's time to retire the ole black original and get this. 💜 Bc I love the sound and the looks and, the way you keep touching it, it must feel great.
ОтветитьVery good review as always. Good to see you having fun with ukeleles and what not! Have a nice week!
ОтветитьGreat review, as always! I've been bicycle touring with my TUSL-55 and it did take a beating, still good though, frets worn out after I changed to fluorocarbons. As now fluorocarbons are default I wonder wether the compound of the freatboard and frets has been updated. Now it is really ultra travel and neck being one with the body makes it probably indestructible. Still I dream of just this with a long neck plus metal frets... Nova U Pro is a little big to carry on a bike...
ОтветитьThanks Baz, great review, this uke has got “bring me to the beach, it’s summer”. Quite like it, lots of plus points including price.👍👍
ОтветитьI have inexpensive durable ukes sprinkled across my home so I always have a uke within arms reach when the mood strikes me, this would be great for that (and travel as the name suggests as well of course).
Thanks for another great review.
I have the original Flight travel and really enjoy playing it. I'll have to check out the ultra version now. You said it feels different than the original travel series, so does it feel more like the Enya Nova ukes?
ОтветитьLooking at the thing I get a Flea vibe.
ОтветитьGot my first Ukulele based on your flight review a while back :) thank you! Your reviews are priceless.
