Is the PLAS-101 Purifier viable on Difficulty 9 (Helldive) in Helldivers 2?

The purifier is great against the bugs. If do a little more with damage buffs than it’s going to be legit asf.

Does it pop bug holes?

The higher penetration on the projectile was a great step toward giving the Purifier a bit more of a defined identity in relation to the other plasma weapons but it still needs a bit more to set it apart. Bumping the projectile damage so it can 1 shot Devastator heads would be huge since the other 2 can’t do this.

Yeah haters are weird, they act like you are attacking their builds or banning them from using anything other than the purifier. Its a perfectly fine weapon, not busted but useful and if your teammates are running the 'meta' stuff, then its actually better to run some other gear to fill gaps and support

I'm a fan of embracing the niche weapons. Back when everyone else crapped on the Blitzer pre-buff, I mastered it and had a blast.

I do genuinely wonder what the Devs had in mind with the Purifier as a playstyle/best practice. I suspect it might shine when the Illuminate show up...

just bump the fire rate up to 1 shot/sec and increase the projectile size, that would feel so much better.

im thinking about switching to this weapon from the scorcher his mass stagger of enemies like the shieldmarauder is no small feat. also its abillity to kill multiple enemies unlike the scorcher (the aoe is a joke) is nice, and if you get in melee you can use weapons like the amr as a makeshift shotgun or use a pistol if you dont use the grenade one. was nice to see how it works on bugs thx for the video. the behemoth charger can still be onehited, just no longer from the head

I have been using the purifier against bots recently and by golly is it great. I usually keep some distance from bots and play a support role rather than rushing the objective. The purifier allows me to stagger devastators and striders and also crowd control from a distance too. If they get close I just shoot the ground and let the blast do the magic. Haven’t tried it against bugs though but against bots I think it will perform better. If a damage buff like up to 300 or a faster charge-up it will place the purifier at a better position.

On the new swamp planet theres a incredibly subtle yet creepy easter egg, eyes from something watching from the tree roots. They are not from any Terminid or automaton I've seen. They are very hard to notice

I still think that pummeler Is top while purifier isnt near that. And punisher plasma Is more fun and last thing is that charge up still which makes it not so great. Scorcher with no charge much faster shooting sligtly less dmg and around same aoe? Both are better same with breaker and i. Breaker. It might be ok, but nowhere near S rank as you people call them. Now since xbow can also destroy structures... Dont see reason to use it over those.

I’m not mad at the weapon. It’s meant to stun large group of enemies. It’s not my cup of “liber-tea” but it has its purpose. I do wish it did more damage.

But why wouldn't i just use the plasma punisher instead?

Its a weapon like the blitzer, where it was niche till it was buffed. I really like to go against the grain when playing games with builds, so i appreciate it when you see people championing the unorthodox weapons. I try to play it as often too, hopefully it gets the adjustments to make it really something to play in a variety of loadouts in the future.

I actually really like the Purifier and have been using it quite frequently since I unlocked it maybe a month ago! The accuracy and range on the Purifier just makes it very reliable for supporting your teams further back and peeling/sofening mobs for them so they can reload or reposition. Personally I just pair it with an AMR and bring Orbital EMS and Gas/Smoke (Depending if it's a bugs/bots mission) strike for a more supportive role.

The question is - can it take a gunship?

I want to like this gun so badly, I do. But the charge time is just too much for me. Combine that with me not really running out of ammo for the PP (which I basically exclusively run on automaton missions), the main draw of the Purifier for me, and I just never see myself wanting to take it. I find the arc of the PP to be a pro, since I regularly shoot enemies while safely behind cover.

It's viable yeah....but why use it over the plasma punisher? Or the scorcher? Does it have any advantage.

Solo helldives are for us professionals😂

I love this weapon. It’s about helping your team. Idk why everyone crying for buffs. The whole point for having all these weapons is playing around with builds and playstyles. This is fantastic at pushing back and helping your squad without being in a frontline. Running stealth builds, it allows me to support while also getting samples unnoticed by enemies.
