the voice over just too good
ОтветитьYou’re not my dad? 😢
ОтветитьMan great content, thanks!
ОтветитьI wonder if the scanner works while it's stationary, and the part is moved around. One could make a jig, with a turntable, from which a part could be hung with an extra thin fishing line, and turned around in front of the scanner.
ОтветитьDowney used more of that white in the early 2000s actually.😂
ОтветитьThis is aaaammmmmmzzzzingggg. ❤ So much big huge yes, this does tie CAD and life together. Together the parts are strong. I am a CND plumber, and do the house renovation stuff. I'm getting one and see if it can scan my house. I'll renovate it and see if I can not use a tape measure, I hope so!❤ Fusion 360 like right thank you free, I could only dream I could use CAD as powerful, now this affordable percussion point seeker saying exactly were it all is❤
ОтветитьCould you use a spatter effect with reflective paint to mimic the target dots? Would be hard to get uniform sized dots and you wouldnt be able to have the contrasting black border. You could adjust "uniformity" and size with paint viscosity and gun pressure, probably couldnt get nearly as big a dot to be reliably round, but it seems like the software is pretty capable.....
Eh?
Totally agree, there has never been a better time to be a mechanical engineer / designer!
ОтветитьI don't understand. How are you drawing on the STL in fusion? Does fusion recognize faces on a STL or are you manually inserting a reference plane?
ОтветитьWow thanks for this video and you just earned yourself a subscribe. I have just spent the better part of two weeks trying to figure out how to reverse engineer the front of an airplane from 3D scans with the same scanner, trying to get it to a solid model so I could work on it. This helped me realize I can work with the scan without turning it into a complete model. What a relief, I never would have finished.
ОтветитьAwesome video and explanation !!
ОтветитьAny chance you can post a link in the description to download something you scanned so we can see how the files look?
I want to bring into solidworks. I dont do anything too dificult, I tend to just take photos with a ruller in the shot and correct image in photoshop then bring in solidworks and trace over it.
or as much white powder as Hunter uses ;)
ОтветитьThanks. Just purchased an einstar scanner
ОтветитьI have seen some people use a cell phone to take multiple pictures, that are then stitched together to make a 3d model.. but I suppose some where that there is a video describing that some place for people to and look at.
ОтветитьI’m not going to watch the video but I am going to agree and give you a comment. I graduated with my masters in mechanical engineering in 2015. I was in a class of people where we had to learn both auto cad and hand drafting because we were in a transitional period where people still hand drafted. It was rare but we had to learn it. In 2013 I got my 3D printer and drafted most of my parts to send to the printer. 3D scanning existed but was out of pocket. Now, your new IPhones have 3D scanning and literal 10 year olds can scan model and print mock-up. It’s insane and almost undermining the masters degree I fought for lol. I run a performance shop now and we engineer and design track builds and I’ll stand by it when I say these 3D scanners will make engineers out of anyone. Like given finger paints to a child and that child becomes Bob Ross.
ОтветитьRemember that a lot of us already have one in our pocket. The iphone comes with a lidar scanner, not nearly as good as the professional dedicated stuff, but far better than that intel one. If you already own an iphone it's worth giving it a go.
ОтветитьSeems to be exactly what I'm looking for... now to part with my Mole scanner.
ОтветитьHave you tried the Creality scanner?
ОтветитьMan, my laptop just barely doesn't meet requirements, clocking in at 16gb ram and 3gb vram. Everything else meets or exceedes that. Course, I can't say I have use for a 3D scanner, outside of learning how to mod my car into BeamNG drive 😂.
ОтветитьBefore you explained the powder I was like "Was this viper a barn find?" 😅
ОтветитьI think I may give Meshroom photogrammetry another try using the alcohol and corn starch trick... That may be my missing link to better results using photogrammetry... But the scanner may be in the budget this fall... absolutely need the CAD models to build from!
ОтветитьAlgorithmus
ОтветитьFalken Wildpeaks! Noice!
ОтветитьOn objects/parts you know are symmetrical, it might help to do a mirror on that axis to fill in detail you missed on one side that you got on the other. You could even ask the software to combine your mirrored scan to fill it all in.
ОтветитьInstead of putting those targets all over a car, I wonder if you could just draw lines on it with a dry-wipe marker.

ОтветитьAi is gona revolutionalise this soon.
ОтветитьFantastic vid on SCANNING! Fast, concise, great editing, script is a riot.....Brilliant...OOO, where'd that come from. I Subscribed, Thank you.
ОтветитьDo you require the high end computer/laptop for the scan itself or can I use something lower end for the scan itself and then use something sufficient for importing the cloud mesh and working with it? I am thinking of having a computer sufficient to do the CAD as a desktop system and using something less powerful, probably a laptop, to control the scanner and save the data generated by the said scanner that would be more portable.
ОтветитьI was wondering watching your videos why everything seemed to be covered in fine saw dust and now I know.
ОтветитьYour humor is on point. I'm way too poor and my life is way too disorganized to be 3d scanning anything. Subscribed nonetheless.
ОтветитьYou're about to waste a '99 Viper on an offroad build?! Oh it's an RT/10? Carry on.
ОтветитьHow do you clean the parts after you that spray?
ОтветитьQuestion 🙋 from Japan 🇯🇵
Hello, I have a question about the turntable!
Without using a turntable,
I'm interested in a 3D scanner that captures only hand-held
I am interested in a 3D scanner that does not use a turntable and only hand-held.
Most relatively inexpensive 3D scanners are not able to capture well when hand-held, right?
What is the best hand-held 3D scanner that you recommend?
What is your best recommendation for the best handheld 3D scanner?
What is the name of the manufacturer and the price?😊
What is the name of this 3D scanner? And how much does it cost? Please tell us!

Hey Matt, what CAD software do you use in your videos?
ОтветитьYou should add ASMR to the title.
Ответить$1000? Nah, it's not time yet. I'll wait a few more years for a $300 equivalent.
ОтветитьDoes the shining3d software work on mac ?
ОтветитьWarning to everyone that wants to use the baby powder mix!
Alcohol will chew through your cars cleat coat. DO NOT use this method if you like your paint the way it is.
I have ruined my friends paint doing this and its fair to say its a lesson learned the hard way. I wish this had been mentioned in the video, but its obvious you should always look up how some things will affect your cars paint.
Not sure on an alternative other than water.
Additional tip, use tape to get the scanner to align on large surfaces. The messier the tape the better itll align. Best put on after the baby powder believe it or not.
I bought one tooo! Airplane!
ОтветитьGreat Video Matt, could you tell us what computer you use for the scanning?
ОтветитьAs an avid solidworks user, I think I need to make the switch to fusion360
ОтветитьMan, you are a genius. 👍🏾
Ответитьno
ОтветитьLmao Robert is going to unfollow u
ОтветитьMe....uses the scanner on my small penls
