I really need your advice. Should I pair a 7700X with 4080 Super or a 7800X3d with 4070Ti Super? I love playing RPGs on max setting and QHD is fully ok for me. Thanks!

You should review the MSI B650 Pro-S Wi-Fi!

Also this solidifies one of my biases, Steve for all you (rather rightfully) have to say about ASRock, I'll point out except the one all the ASRock boards are top half, and meanwhile all the Gigabyte are so bad at the bottom it's crazy. This is why I bought an expensive ASRock board, it was well built.

Great video, although I doubt anyone who has to buy one of those boards would be able to afford a Ryzen 9 processor.

Nevertheless it's important to call out the nonsensical advertising of being able to use an R9 cpu with these boards.

Also having MSI as a sponsor yet at the same time shitting on these boards was really funny.

Keep up the great work. :)

this exact type of perf. testing on motherboards is sorely needed (by people like me who want to actually make a decision on a board) i wish there were more such presentations. thanks. I also appreciate the ones you have done in the past for other platforms.

I have a hard time understanding how some companies, can make some of the best products out there on the market. And then somehow also deliver some of this steaming hot pile of garbage to their customers. Like.. The same company, Gigabyte both producing a nearly 2200 CB points card, and a 1100 points card. How can a company fuck it up so badly? Fucking hell.

I'm curious to see how these boards work when paired to something like a Ryzen 5 8600G.
For a person who needs something newer, passable iGPU, and never plans to upgrade for 5-10 years, I think that's who these boards are targeted to.
They are still garbage overall, but realistically who is going to pair a Ryzen 9 7950X with a B650 sub-$200 board?

Hey, nice vid as always, but I need some tips on what to buy. I'm looking for a mATX or mini ITX board to handle my 7800X3D, and I have no idea what to buy. I usually like to tweak my systems, I do some CPU and RAM overclocking for fun and gaming, but I don't see any reviews for the boards I might want. idc about RGB I'd prefer a clean board with good IO with USBs, overclocking potential, thermals, and stability.

Sorted by brands:
MSI: B650i Gaming Edge, B650M Gaming Plus WiFi, MAG B650M Mortar.
Gigabyte: B650M Aorus Elite AX ICE, B650M Aorus Elite AX (rev 1 to 1.3+), B650M Aorus Elite, B650i Aorus Ultra.
ASRock: B650i Lightning WiFi, B650E PG-ITX WiFi, B650M-HDV/M.2 (lack of USBs in my opinion, but impressive results on this vid)
ASUS: They are all overpriced and not really available here in France

I cannot tell you how fucking relieved. I am that I avoided b650 as a platform when I built my boyfriend his computer this year. This kind of information is terrifying, how far are they willing to reduce the quality if this is what they're willing to sell people for hundreds of dollars? All in the name of profit.

I just picked up the latest MicroCenter bundle (here in the US) for $499. It includes a 7800x3d, a GIGABYTE B650 GAMING X AX V2 motherboard, and 32 GB G.skill 6000 RAM. Just wanted to know if the motherboard is a good one. I know you weren’t impressed by the first version of this board, but the V2 seems to have made some good improvements, and I’d like to know your opinion about it. Thanks!

Sadly, those boards have been released at the wrong price. In the B350 and 450 generation, there were boards for 60 to 75 Euro. This is the bracket where those boards belong.

I got a 70 euro board with a 5600 and that is a great combination. But it is just plain wrong to advertise such boards with compatibility to high end chips as your testing has shown.

I'd say most motherboards are complete crap but that's more on the basis of available I/O. I've recently grabbed Asus ROG B650 motherboard for my small build and it's just fucking abysmal. Not to mention mATX choices being extremely underwhelming when it comes to features - the only motherboard that doesn't suck ass is worth more than it's weight in gold and seemingly impossible to buy too (X670E Gene). Like, what the hell happened, it's like we're reliving the absolute mediocrity that AM4 was. If I was building a PC on AM5 again I still don't see a choice of anything worth it's pricetag outside of Asus ProArt X670E and AsRock X670E Taichi. All these other motherboards, what the hell am I even paying for - most if not all of them could very well be A620 based judging by the lack of features and I/O. There are some much more expensive X670E motherboards that are complete dogshit too. I just don't understand why is it so hard to make product that doesn't suck o.0 not to mention A LOT of even B650 motherboards don't even allow you to undervolt for better thermals... Like... WTF.
