I don't think its for me!!
ОтветитьOr some communities expect that just because you move into their neighborhood, you have to be their best friend. We like to be cordial, but aren't looking for people who need to be in our business all the time.
ОтветитьYOU ARE GOOD TO WARN PEOPLE! THANKS!
ОтветитьI live in a 55 plus apartment in Chino,CA, on Central Ave, / Phillips by the new park, which is 530 sf. It is not assistant living, however, the maintenance men come into my apartment, and take whatever they want when I leave, then break a wheel off my carts, so I put cart in the trash, they fix and resell. I have a spy camera, and a lock on my bedroom door.
I feel like I’m in a senior citizen’s prison. You see a lot of broke down nosy old people, who carry around a bag of pills. The office people are mean, and say, “ I just forgot what I have”, because I’m old! I’m a healthy senior 65, who takes no drugs!
I don’t recommend Senior Housing, because they make you feel old, you’re taken advantage of, due to your age and mental capacity. Remove all valuable items if you have to live in one, and use spy cameras 24/7 for protection, no one is safe!
I have lived in a retirement community for 13 years now. I researched this place before I decided to purchase . I went by the community at night and during the day to see how it really was there . No issues. I am happy here.
ОтветитьMy mom lived in one and was happy for many years until she hooked up with dude she married. He had a dog and pets were prohibited. They tried pulling the “emotional support animal” card but it was a no go. Honestly, didn’t blame the neighbors. I LOVE dogs but his dog was completely untrained. Dog had been trained to go on pee pads instead of being walked so the dog did its business on any rug or welcome mat.
ОтветитьGreat 😊😊😊😊😊😊
ОтветитьVery helpful!
ОтветитьI'm 55 and live in an area with a disproportionate amount of seniors. We have loads of retirement communities. It started with having an age restricted community was for seniors safety and houses were 1-2 bedrooms and more affordable. Now it's gotten crazy. Four bedrooms, $500k and no gates. Remember I'm 55 years old. How is this even legal? You cannot have a family only community. No certain religion, race or nationality community. Those homes aren't contributing the tax revenue as other communities yet require more first responder services. In my town we can't get a school budget passed and the kids are suffering. We don't have nearly enough low income housing for young families. I seriously would love to know how this is legal? I have no plans on ever moving into a half millions dollar retirement community. Actually no matter the price. I don't think its right unless it's for the resaon the communities started. Ive also heard too many horror stories.
Ответитьeverthing you talked about is TRUE`!!!!!!!!!!! and whoever gets to theoffice first is belived and you are the bad one and they will do nothing to defend you
ОтветитьI solved ALL of my retirement problems right off the bat. I didn't want to get stuck in a place I BOUGHT so I didn't buy into a retirement community. Instead, I rent...so I can move anytime I want to. I also didn't want to be bothered by next door apartment neighbors so I never associate with anyone in the apartment complex. I love being alone so this is ideal for me. I associate with friends who live OUTSIDE the senior living apartment complex and with my own family. So far, so good. I'm as happy as a bug in a rug. I don't participate in ANY of the activities that go on with the rest of the seniors here, such as bingo, parties, exercise class (I exercise quite extensively on my own and can do exercises FAR BEYOND what other seniors my age can do... such as cartwheels and other strenuous feats), parties (during which they eat the most atrocious foods that are bad for health - I'm a purist when it comes to health foods). Also, I'm in an area in which I can walk a few miles to all sorts of grocery stores, shopping stores, post office, bank, etc. so I don't need to use a vehicle much at all. Really, this is a fantastic life for me and it makes me very happy. I'm 74 and having the time of my life. Just wish all other seniors would give a little bit more thought to where they intend to live for the rest of their lives. Take your own priorities into account and realize that others will NOT necessarily have the same priorities. DEMAND life to YOUR specifications.
ОтветитьWhat you describe could be true for every subdivision or small town in America!
ОтветитьGreat Info
ОтветитьThis guy is an idiot
ОтветитьThanks so much for the information. I am 67 and its not for me. I thought about moving into one, but thats as far as that thought is going now.
ОтветитьWish I could afford to live in a 55+ community. Even senior mobile home communities are outrageously priced in my area. Rental fees, hoa fees, I just can't afford.
ОтветитьI'm 67 and love living in a +55 Apartment complex. No noisy kids running around. No crazy partying at midnight. It's quiet. Quiet is good
ОтветитьSo true
ОтветитьIt's better to avoid these communities
ОтветитьThank you very much for your comments. I hope the public takes notice. It is too late for me. I find the clicks to be the worst aspect of living in such a situation.
ОтветитьPeople are facing a tough retirement. and it's even harder for workers to save due to low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire in.
ОтветитьValuable information !
ОтветитьI love living in my 55 plus Del Webb community. You have to follow rules, but it keeps people from parking cars on their lawns and painting their house purple. Lol
ОтветитьMy feeling was always family oriented. I love hearing kids play, the sound of people going to and from work. It reminds of where I grew up. I have ZERO desire to move into a community with people the same age as me. Seems nutbar to me.
ОтветитьMoved to Sun city omg. I own 3 cars two are Trucks, One is lifted I use for off roading. Got a notice I had to move it 1st day. Then got a notice for my other suv No Off Road Vehicles allowed. Even know its a factory lifted ZR2. Then got another notice for my Benze it's to loud Just never ending nick pickers. I sold house moved to Glendale so Happy now...
ОтветитьHOA????? Please no
ОтветитьYes years ago, there was this old guy from the military that thought he could take over the community. He started trespassing on peoples properties spying on them. In fact, he even illegally created an HOA without the approval of the community. He was paying off this attorney to sue people. If they didn’t bow down to him. so yes, I agree with you. That’s why many people refuse to live in a community That is controlled by unhinged people.
Back in 2008 we decided to get out of a community which was run by old frustrated men. That got their rocks off by harassing others
In my opinion, the best place to live would be not in a cookie cutter bedroom community.
We found a beautiful place, NOT in a community (where the homes are on large properties very private but yet very close to medical facilities and shopping).
Very quiet and right off a main state maintained road. Anytime we need anything. Services are right there.

In many states HOA board of directors cannot be convicted felons. But sometimes they are but it’s swept under the rug. One HOA had a board Director president who was a convicted felon for murder.
And he was allowed to be president. When the community got together to try to remove him, lawyer threatened the members using fear tactics. In fact, this individual Hired goons to do his dirty work.
The problem with these HOA is when you try to get any information about their budgets or any information you either are Stonewald or you’re giving information that is either stale dated or information that is inaccurate.
ОтветитьI just moved into a 55+
I’m 67 years old
I FEEL LIKE I DIED AN GONE TO HELL
DO NOT MOVE TO CAMELBACK PROPERTY
MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE
Camelback property’s phoenix Az think twice before signing a less
ОтветитьThis is very helpful
ОтветитьI think all of these issues apply to my current neighborhood, which is not 55+. When you have neighbors, you will have problem neighbors.
ОтветитьThank you! 🙏🏼 I’m a very private person & would hate noisy people
ОтветитьBetter to live in an “over 55” BUILDING in a large downtown area of a city then some suburban or rural “over 55” community. This way once you take the elevator down to the ground floor and exit the building the “downtown area” is your COMMUNITY, not the people in the building.
ОтветитьOver 55 communities are kindergartens for retirees.
ОтветитьDon't come to the York house in North Philadelphia, or any property owned by the Lindy family. They are mean ruthless people who exploit seniors 😮
ОтветитьNo way for an HOA.
ОтветитьI am pushing 83, it will be a cold day in hell before I will ever live in a one of those old fart communities.
Ответитьnine seems like ten, eight is like nine, seven is like six, I joined a Y, hated it, all old people sitting around tying up equipment. Don't want to see naked old guys with no social skills or modesty in the locker room. One goes right back to ten, it's high school at fifty five plus.
ОтветитьAfter living in a 55+ community for 2 1/2 years, I agree that it isn't for everyone. And I'll agree that many of the issues you mention can be a problem. However, most of the issues you mention are not a problem with 55+ communities per se, but can arise no matter where you live. People are people...most are nice, decent folks and some are not.
There are many advantages to living in a 55+ community. If your interested in "community", want to be invovled in various activities, prefer an active lifestyle etc. a 55+ community may be good for you. These communities are not for everyone.
I love mine BUT it's a single family home NOT a condo. The fee is $85/mo. They cut the grass, paint the houses and keep the pool up. I'm here 10 years and had my first increase this year (up from $64/mo). No common walls or roof of course. I do like not having teenagers or toddlers anywhere nearby lol.
ОтветитьMy dad loved the villages. He had the best 20 year retirement I could ever hope for. We loved visiting him. Do you!!
ОтветитьMy 55+ community is great... you need to do research... I love it
ОтветитьWhat are you talking about? Live everywhere houses apartments owned whatever schmucks neighborhood which neighborhood poor neighborhood thieves 55 community no different lotta activities. Lie is criminals. Like your average neighborhood. What are you talking about 55 community you’ll like it. Don’t listen to this character. kids still show up to aggravate you. Criminals everywhere in suits out of suits, right, sir.
ОтветитьYou’re misleading the public Mr. real estate agent it’s terrible everywhere you’re out of your tree. It is a gold bar over there. Go grab it carry on.
