God does not chastise his children through sickness. He corrects us through His word and through tests but not sickness. Sickness is part of the curse, and we are redeemed from the curse of the law. If sickness comes on a child of God, it's doing so illegally because it's an attack of Satan. Sickness only came as a result of sin. After we're born again, the curse has no place in our lives, and we must not accept it. Christ redeemed us from the curse. We are to declare we are healed by faith and wait patiently for the manifestation in the natural. God expects us to resist sickness and believe for the healing he has already provided for us over 2,000 years ago. Sickness, poverty and death are part of the curse. God doesn't use either to teach his kids. We live in a fallen world and we are sometimes attacked by the, god of this evil world.
God's word doesn't teach that he's humbling us through sickness. Your statement will lead people to believe that is a hard task master. What father in the natural would want their child to be sick so they can be humble or obedient? If we wouldn't do that, surely our Heavenly Father would resort to use it. It could be that the sickness may draw us closer to God. But He's not using it to do so. God hates sin and anything that came as a result of it.
