Please, don't use LibreOffice instead of MS Office
ОтветитьLe Jean Dujardin de la tech avec un bon accent français, cool 😎
ОтветитьFor PDF add Scribus to the list
ОтветитьYou sonofa... :D I just switched to Trilium, a bit over a week ago, and now you show me logseq and I'm looking through the plugins and falling in love. Was never a fan of Obsidian, personally.
I see another migration in my future.
A lot of these could be replaced with “just use physical paper”
Ответитьlogseq; also emacs org mode or neovim neorg or joplin, or zim or a lot more :D
vscode; emacs, neo(vim), etc
happy new year everyone ! I love this guy on the video (who?) because he looks having some French flavor of intelligence ;-=)
Ответитьtoo sad the AppFlowy android version not available now.
ОтветитьI would add a tandem of apps from a somewhat diffuse category, which I believe does not have a dominant cross-platform commercial app: the sharing of files/texts (links) and/or control of other devices within the same LAN.
They would be LocalSend and KDE Connect, which are completely cross-platform: Windows, Linux, Mac, Android and iOS. They would be a kind of substitute for Link to Windows, samba sharing, etc.
Please suggest some nice and strong option for ms access with compability support
ОтветитьBig thanks!
ОтветитьWhy would you not host chats with Matrix? Why not even mention it?
ОтветитьAppFlowy is amazing! Especially that it's developed really fast. It didn't even have page-in-page documents 5 months ago. Also, you can selfhost synchronization service.
ОтветитьIs Visual studio "MOST POPULAR"??? No. Thanks: no more crazymicrosoft.
ОтветитьDark mode pls
Ответитьappflowy and anytype are not really notion alternatives when they have no live collab features...
ОтветитьFOSS softwares are great but usually proprietary softwares would be better in terms of performance or stability. One of the most major reasons is that in proprietary software, the developer has the responsibility to fix errors and increase stability since they are paid.
ОтветитьNo
ОтветитьMy search for a decent stock charting software package continues.......Metastock alternative anyone ?
ОтветитьI'm personally really tired of people saying you should "just use GIMP" instead of photoshop.
For anyone that's actually used photoshop and NEEDS the same features and usability, GIMP just simply isn't good enough.
I have friends who are artists and graphical designers, who when trying GIMP just got confused and frustrated when trying to do things are are very simple and easy in PS or Clip Studio and just rage quit.
Since GIMP has become the poster child for FOSS alternatives I feel it gives people who try it a really bad first impression of FOSS, like is this "really" the best open source has to offer?
But it doesn't have to be that way, Krita exists and is a great substitute in both features and how intuitive it is. I think we HAVE to stop recommending GIMP as an alternative to PS for artists and start recommending Krita instead.
P.S. I in no way mean to shit on GIMP or anyone that works on it. It's great on it's own and if I have to do anything with vector graphics, it's usually my go to. But for artists, when compared to PS or Clip Studio and what they expect the experience to be like, it isn't a great alternative for THEIR use case.
Gimp sux and so does Krita
ОтветитьThere's a saying among Eastern European Linux users: "If people took the time to learn sed, grep, and awk, millions of pieces of proprietary software would never have been written".
ОтветитьBasically you can replace everything with Emacs :D
ОтветитьI curious where Thunderbird gets their income such that they can afford to sponsor videos?
It's been said that whenever a product is free, you aren't the customer, you're the product. Might it be that Thunderbird is connecting to third parties for tracking purposes?
Just asking.
Affine is the best Replacement for Notion
Ответитьthey all suck
ОтветитьWhat benefit does Obsidian being open source give? The software is already free for consumers and all of the data is saved on your computer in text files. For 99% of users those are the only things that would matter.
ОтветитьIn the corporate world, my observation has been that the moment obscure open source products are brought onto the scene, all kinds of incompatibilities commence and people are not able to freely share documents. Like it or not the 'big corporate' products are the accepted standards.
I also can't say that I have ever heard regular non-technical business users wanting access to the source code of their apps so that they can change them and recompile them. That's the wishful thinking domain of geeks!
2D (not 3D) autocad free alternative?
Ответитьnice video, thx!
ОтветитьNotion has standalone app designed for Windows, you can use it without browser. AFAIR version for Linux exists too. I can not find Logseq app nor AppFlow in my Android Store.
ОтветитьI was super distracted during your video trying to figure out which Warhammer boxes you have on your shelf behind you.
Ответитьwhat cloud are most people using for self-hosting these days? linode? digital ocean?
ОтветитьImagine using Acrobat when you can use the superior LaTex.
ОтветитьI used Anytype for like a week but could not adapt to it. The best features from Notion and Obsidian are trying to be developed, but there is a big lack of documentation and a very small community in case of any issue. The app tries to imitate Notion's look and functionality but it works with local encrypted files and has the ability to graph connections like in Obsidian. However, the app generates a lot of cache (for example, when creating a bookmark, the image of the site preview is stored even if you delete the bookmark) and the search feature is not good. There is a mobile version, but the app has not full features (I could not visualize LaTex math formulas for example). I usually combine headers with toggle lists in Notion, but here I could not and it was frustrating. Besides that, I really consider that this application will have the best future when compared to any other note-taking app, but only if the developers keep fixing the instability issues.
ОтветитьYou can have my obsidian when you pry it from my cold dead hands
ОтветитьI use NetBeans, VS Code and IDEA... in that order. NetBeans is already open source and I use it for my own projects, VS Code for frontend stuff and IDEA to show things to people who don't know how to use other IDEs or because my employer provides it (or both).
ОтветитьThe remote dev stuff is proprietary sadly, which makes VSCodium pretty unusable if you have remote servers or devcontainers or so.
Ответитьa nice FOSS replacement for notion and obsidian is anytype!!
ОтветитьAnother good open source call thing is jitsi
Ответитьtechnically VS Code is open source under MIT... but it's Microsoft, and it sucks, so I still avoid it and all it's forks, etc.
Ответитьlogseq is awesome, my issue is that it's really slow on my trash school pc. it's been slightly better since i switched to the flatpak but it's still quite laggy.
ОтветитьThank u for anytype recommendation!
ОтветитьVscode is open source
ОтветитьThere's still no good open-source replacement for Aftereffects which greatly saddens me. Premiere is taken care of with OpenShot or Kdenlive, but not Aftereffects.
ОтветитьI've been looking for a Trello replacement!
Thank you, this video is very helpful.
Can Mattermost talk to MS Teams?
For work, it's imperative to be able to chat with other companies who are using MS Teams!
Who tf named AppFlowy!? 🤦♀️
ОтветитьLolwut? Thunderbird still exists?!
Ответить
