Ответитьwonder if someone can help me out- when did Things To Come enter public domain. I love this movie
ОтветитьThe woman at 33.23 would go on to play Mrs Pumphrey in All Creatures Great and Small forty two years later.
ОтветитьFor a film from the Thirties the graphics and art design are superior to those cheesy Sci-Fi films of the Fifties with the notable exception of Forbidden Planet. I just read "The Shape Of Things To Come" which is what this film is based upon. It is definitely worthwhile to read but of course very different from this film. The book is a Future History of the world. I definitely like this film on its own. Thanks for posting!
ОтветитьWow, never knew this Raymond Massey film existed, just watched it for the first time a little while ago on the telly. Spooky/prophetic, in some ways this work of fiction parallels these days of earth, pointing to many finalities so it seems. And to know it was made in 1936, gotta watch it again. Art imitating life, life imitating art....
ОтветитьI first saw this film on TV in the late 70s when I was about 8 or 9 years old. The speech about making "Danger and death worthwhile", along with Margaret Mead's statement about the "perfect culture", and Epicurean thinking about greater and lesser pleasures, has had a tremendous impact on my thinking about politics, economics, and society.
ОтветитьNot even close...
