I switched the VRR off on my sony tv because I just couldn't stand the fucking awful brightness flicker it would cause.

I got a 48" C2 last week. Really wanted the Sony a90k 42". But a $829 Best Buy special sell on the c2 vs. $1299 for the Sony made the decision easy.
I'm very happy with the C2. AC Origins looks amazing on ps5.
I was using a 2021 Sony x750h 55". Its only 60hz and supports none of the ps5 special features but is still a nice 4k for PS4, 3, and 2.
I tried playing Red Dead Redemption on my PS3 on the C2 and it looked absolutely horrible. No matter what settings I tried.

I get random dimming, nights in my games are too bright in every game. These TV's are garbage at gaming.

Tried to hookup Nvidia 4090 to Sony Bravia X90H. No image, just black screen with a green stripe. Bought another cable on Amazon, same issue. For this fact, never buying a Sony TV for computer ever again. Going to LG for that now

Can you tell me if disabling TPC and GSR causes the input lag to increase? I disabled the feature on my CX for ASBL, and the input lag seems to increase... is this possible? or is it just my impression? Has anyone tested? Thanks.

I own both a 55 inch Sony A80J and LG C1 and I hands down prefer the Sony as it has much better color accuracy and more vibrant.

This is truly unfortunate for Sony who can’t even support their own console properly.

Wish it wasn’t so complicated. A console should just be at max when plugged in and used. That’s part of the draw to playing consoles over messing with pc settings for 30 mins before everything you play.

SO VRR gamma shift/flickering is impossible to solve in any circumstance? I can also sense A90J will appear some flickering white line if the fps is too unstable, especially under 30 fps or the dark area is very sharp contrasted with the bright area like in Halo Infinite. But this never show in PS5 VRR mode, becuase all PS5 VRR is above 30 fps, from 40-120 fps. But very significant in XSX, becuase XSX has system-level VRR game, which will force every game, even under 30 fps to use VRR, so the problem will be very significant. The only way out is try to play XSX games in Performance mode like 120 fps or 60 fps. (better in 120 fps, flickering is totally gone in Halo Infinite). I strongly recommend HDTVtest to publish a video to explain the situation in Halo game with VRR turned on in A90J tv.

(Your professional assistance could help me a lot with this decision…)
When you say LG OLED that has all these features, which LG model are you referring to?

I just purchased the 55” Sony A80J as my “non competitive gaming” screen for my gaming room, as it was on sale for a mind blowing $989 right now!! Would it be worth sacrificing 7 inches and saving $50 for me to step down to the 48” LG C1 OLED instead…? I will be playing both Xbox Series X and my PS5 on them. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

HDR isn't a big deal for me as I usually switch it off because it's too messes to set up on a per contents basis.

What bothers me the most is VRR, it's hard work to find out what range Sony tv's can do and the only bit of info I can find is the PS5 which is 48-120fps, is that the limit of all Sony tv's? or is that just the PS5?

Also, when a Sony tv says it supports VRR, does that mean it will work with an AMD freesync gpu on the PC? I'm asking because there is too much confusion from Sony on what it actually support, none of their sites on the spec sheets actually tell you what the VRR range, all it says it's VRR and that's it which doesn't really tell us much.

Does VRR introduce input lag in gaming? If so, how bad is it?

Also, what would be the best VRR TV for $500 or less that maintains rich blacks? I don’t want to give up color depth for VRR.
Thank you in advance and great job with your content.

Does anyone know if LG OLEDS of this year will be compatible with PS5’s upcoming Vrr function? As far as I’ve come to understand PS5 will be supporting "HDMI Forum Vrr" - not freesync nor g-sync. 🤔 I’m really confused about it and no one at the tv stores know the answer to my question. I’m considering buying a LG G2 this year, but only if it is fully compatible with my PS5. I don’t want a A90j because it only has 2 2.1hdmi ports - and I think 4 2.1hdmis port seem a bit more future-proof.

SONY you can change peak luminance in SDR gaming....for a MUCH brighter image than the LG.
Most of my gaming on PC still is SDR....So SONY easily wins best gaming tv.

By reading comments here it looks like some LG paid propaganda. Let's be real and stop the BS. The Sony is vastly superior in everything against the C1. It shouldn't even be compared. C1 also dims even with the ABSL turned off in the service menu. And when it does, it doesn't refresh back to normal, it stays dim. The Sony ( something Vincent is not mentioning somehow ) comes back to normal brightness after a minute or so. It does the dimming to avoid burn in. Disabling this on LG will just be more propense of burn in but LG users seem to don't care about it and not even being real with their TV's = lower PQ, less detail, blurry PC mode against the amazingly sharp Sony PC mode, less brightness against Sony amazing HDR tonemapping and SDR levels, worse calibration colors, even worse stand and worse sound. The Sony is pricey but it's worth it. The LG is cheaper and there's a reason for that, all the just mentioned issues against the Sony. Grow up fanboys.

Hi. I have a question. Does the Sony 77 in. A80J use LG Evo panel? Does this Sony easily burn in? Would you recommend me to purchase the Sony 77 in. A80J over the Samsung 75 QN800B? I was thinking to return the Samsung 75 QN800B because the eARC port will not work with my Anthem AVM70 sound processor. I had the Anthem tech support to check bit by bit in the AVM70 configurations and they displayed correct. I called the Samsung TV tech support, they checked and verified and said there is nothing wrong with the TV. There isn't any much information about the new Samsung 75 QN800B in the samsung support site or on the internet. That is so disappointing.

With the firmware updates to the PS5 and the A80j now out, which set out of the LG G1 55" and the Sony A80J 55" would you go for now in 2022? Would be mainly ps5 gaming and Netflix/Amazon movies. Either set would be ISF calibrated. Thanks Vincent!
