thank you
Ответитьwould this method work for a car equipped with a rack and pinion ?
Ответитьinformative, thanks
ОтветитьRezervwar
ОтветитьExcellent video and instructions, thank you.
ОтветитьVery helpful instructions, thank-you so much.
ОтветитьWell done 👏
ОтветитьI was looking to do this in ~4 minutes... But thank you for the video. You RoCk
ОтветитьIf you don’t want to spill any at the end just pump what little is in the reservoir and fill it back up when you put the hoses back on.
ОтветитьWhere to properly dispose of old fluids? Doew suto shop tske them?
ОтветитьThank you for the advice. My dealer asks $169.00 to do that.
ОтветитьThis is such a clear and concise video, great job. I always refer back to it when changing out the PAS fluid on our cars. One tip I’d suggest is to mark the change date on the reservoir. I use a marker pen on the metal case. Not only is it a useful reminder for yourself, but if you need to take your motor into a shop, it provides a heads up to the technician that you’re someone who looks after their car.
Ответитьthat was Dexron 6 (VI = 6 in Roman numerals) ??
ОтветитьThe bottles were Dexron VI.... like 5+1=6? Or am I getting my roman numerals wrong here?
ОтветитьI'm just here to say "resevwah."
ОтветитьGreat video, just wondering is there a reason why the reservoir was filled with clean fluid before attaching the hosing back on meaning having to stop the new fluid from coming out rather than cleaning the hose first once off then re attaching then fliiling the reservoir? just wondering?
ОтветитьWait .. why do the bottles say transmission fluid?
Ответитьwhat is the brand of pump you had in the video?
ОтветитьNice video. very useful and infortive. 👍
ОтветитьWe talked about the return hose(IN) the whole time, what about the exit hose(OUT)? what's going to happen to this hose the entire process? And secondly does the car engine have to running during this whole process?
ОтветитьI asked my mechanic to flush the fluid once and he said it couldn't be done !
too bad I didn't know about this trick at the time. good video.
How about you don't fill the reservoir above the return before reconnecting the return line.
ОтветитьThis is over now with electric power steering!
ОтветитьSo what about air bubbles
ОтветитьThis is a really good idea and tool. Even the lawnmower engine oil - it is messy and heavy to turn a lawnmower upside down (mine didn't have a drain plug - or not that I could see).
And great video - straight to the point, no yelling, and no rap "music"
Did you guys start the engine when you pumped out the return hose? I assume it supposed to be off
Ответитьgood video, but for best results you should have the cap off the reservoir when steering back and forth. That will let any air escape through the opening rather than being trapped in the system.
ОтветитьWhat about air in return line when you disconnect it from pump and connect it to reservoir wont that cause problems
ОтветитьAre you running the engine when draining pumping the old fluid out?
ОтветитьGet a hand vacuum pump from harbor freight for less than $10, piece of tube if you don't have it (I didn't). And this was easy as pie. My fluid was dirty! Now it's crystal clear. Thanks a lot
ОтветитьIt is not that easy and will cost more than 20$ plus more than 5min for sure. everybody is not comfortable with car system.
question? what do to with the whole pump when we are done? because we dont change fluid every month.
More easy is to unplug one of the hose and turn the steering pump to all way until all fluid is out than put new one and that's pretty all. that'S how i did and never worried about the pump what to do with after :)
Who takes the old fluid for recycling ? How much ? Plus you having to take the fluid in a container inside your vehicle and hope it doesn't spill over onto your interior fabric driving to the place that recycles power steering fluid. Unless you want to just pour it out onto your lawn weeds. Oops, I think that is illegal now ? But who's gonna know right ? All this aggravation is why I just let my mechanic do this in his garage now. Just like the oil changes I pay for now.
ОтветитьGood job keep it up
ОтветитьThank you so much for this vid it helped me so much with doing this one my 21year old cl500. I would have never tried this without your vid thanks so much ❤
ОтветитьThank you,
ОтветитьDo you do it with engine on ?
ОтветитьDoes this also flush the fluid in the steering wheel?
ОтветитьIt will make it last longer
ОтветитьYou can do it even cheaper take an old lotion pump rhe longest you have and stick it in the reservoir... pump it out then spin the wheel tires to right and to left 5o drain out the rest rhe reservoir will fill and you repeat this until you can't pump Any more you can fill the reservoir with fluid repeat then pump it out and it will look clean and now your ready to fill .. easy and cheap I bought a pump at harbor hand hose for 7 dollars ... it works for draining anything...... that machine will be good tho if you need to drain a clogged drain a machine or kiddie pool buckets etc.. but some people rather pay I remember my sister needed her door locks changed I said I'd do it for a beer the bth.. said he'll no I Wil never buy you beer ... she spends 200 dollars at the bar and buys her friends drinks all the time. She ended up paying 70 to some dude at home depot
Ответитьthanks- best vid on this subject and I have a vacuum pump.
ОтветитьVery well explained . Thank you. Make life easy for the DIY people.
ОтветитьDamn great video thanks my friend!
ОтветитьDIY is always to find solutions to save money. But what do I do with the old fluid once I changed it to the new one?
ОтветитьThanks, brother.
ОтветитьAnother good thing to do is buy cheap atf and run it through flushing before putting the new high quality fluid to flush the excess dirt. But so far this is the best guide found in YT.
Ответитьthank you!
ОтветитьDid anyone notice he used transmission fluid for the power steering system? 😮
ОтветитьHot tip.
Drive up on double cardboard box squares to make the steering/wheels turn without killing tires and rack.
It makes a huge smooth difference!
No purchase of unnecessary tools necessary. All you need to do is unplug return hose, put it in a container, start the car and keep adding new fluid until fresh fluid starts coming out of the hose. Shut the car off, top the reservoir and you are done. You're welcome.
