Hungary joining the HRE isn't new, it's an event Austria gets that let's them decide to hold an incident to have Hunary join or have relations with them degrade, I got it once in the previous update (was first time playing Austria for me actually), I have not seen it since so ig it must be pretty rare

Claim Blekinge to get the restore union casus belli mission done
At least do the Swedish relation mission to make them docile in the union war

When eric dies, pause at the event log and declare the union war
Now go republic and enjoy the extra gold, taxes & union belli while join the HRE right away
You can both restore the union and take Sjaelland with a good war score
You need 20-30 galleys + 15 transports to get to the Danish islands
Hire two mercenary companies for extra support to take Kopenhaven and get a republic mission done

Yo!!! I figured out the new playing tall meta. Play a republic (I played Dithmarschen), go Trade-Pluto: means + 20 loyalty for Burghers. With Economic, Protestant and the -5% from Pluto + loyal burghers there’s your -30% dev cost back

The Gotland pirate republic triggers a major conflict in Europe including 3 major powers, thats a great plot :D

I discovered the centre of trade upgrade mission reward "issue" when playing Mali. After considering it, 2 base production is still pretty good, but was hoping it would circumvent the Dev requirement for upgrading to a level 3 centre of trade. Would be very exploity though, like you can do with some of the monument upgrade mission rewards

Hungary joining the HRE is usually an HRE event triggered by Austria or Hungary allowing Hungary to join the HRE, if its a free Hungary and you triggered event then a good 70% of the time you wont get in vise versa Austria
