After checking our indoor faucet fittings as you demonstrated, the humming continued. We then checked everything outside - sprinkler valves? no change; hose bibs? Yes! one was the culprit. No more humming. Thanks

GREAT! Within one minute of watching this video I had stopped my cold tap from humming in an upstairs bathroom; I never would have suspected that it was originating on the hot side! You saved me the cost of a plumbing call, thank you!

Hello Michael! I'm researching because my pipes are suddenly starting to hum and I'm a plumbing novice so I'm trying to figure out what my issues could be.

Recently my water heater died and funds are tight so the water intake to the water heater is turned off while we save to replace it. Things were fine for awhile but a couple days ago I noticed an aggressive humming coming when I was using the kitchen sink (cold water obviously). It went away when I turned the water off and wasn't repeated on other times using that sink so I figured it was a weird one off or maybe due to some local construction happening in my neighborhood.

But today it happened when the toilet was being flushed, and when the tub cold water was being used. But again only a one off.

I'm thinking it's probably not valves since those were untouched and I don't know where to find my bathtub valves anyway to check those. Could there be other causes or things I could look into? So far Google is just telling me water pressure and I found your video when trying to look up how to reduce my water pressure. But I'm skeptical of that's it since a couple weeks happened between the water heater dying and the humming starting, and I dread the cost of a plumber with everything else going on. Got some ideas i can try?

I've got a humming sound all over my unit, the same sound decibal, I wonder if it's due to the pipes and if so, are there pipes in the roof, It's not an electrical issue, could that be the problem?

Dude you are the man you suggestion works. One thing I found was that I had to turn the cold water valve all the way off and open the water to the full position and slowly turn the water valve on. Thanks

Opening the bathroom sink hot water handle fully would cause a humming/vibrating sound in the wall. It started a few weeks ago out of the blue. Following your advice, I simply opened the supply valve below the sink fully, and the problem is gone! Thank you, Michael!

Thank you! As a DIY guy, my first reaction is normally to pull everything apart; which I nearly did. Thanks to your video, I checked that the valve was fully open. It wasn't. Problem solved and more time on my hands to pull something else apart. 🙂 Thank you!

I can't thank you enough!!!! My hot water in the bathroom has been "vibrating" for a year and then the cold water started. I have been struggling financially and was devastated thinking about a plummer. I turned the valves like you said and now they are PERFECT!!!

Great video, tho you would think a plumber could sort this, we have had 3 trying to fit a water filter and now been getting this problem for days. One came back thought he had fixed it and it started again. Driving me mad, my nervous system is terrible. Turned what we THINK is the pressure down there is a shut of valve on it too.

Ok so if you want to turn down the pressure because your new faucet sprays water out too hard what do you do? I crank my pressure down so it doesn’t gush out & I do get the humming. What are my options?

Sorry, I do not understand how turning off the hot water valve stopped the hum. There was zero flow in the hot water line because the faucet was off. Plus before you turned the valve off it was already in the full on position but was humming. You turned it from the full open position to off the back to the full open position. Please explain. Thanks

My basement bathroom faucet vibrates when i turns on and stop after water is on so i should try your method by either turns valves all way on both hot and cold to test if it is not vibrates anymore the problem fixed but if it is still vibrates then i need change valves, right?
