An enormous leap forward by the Clean H2040 program in Kentucky was recently celebrated on the Covington/Park Hills city line, hosted by Joshua One, “A Developer with a Different View,” and its project partners.

What is Clean H2O40?

Clean H2O40 is SD1’s commitment to “increasing capacity to better manage the flow of wastewater and storm water in Northern Kentucky.”

SD1 has teamed up with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Commonwealth of Kentucky to balance the need to keep local waterways clean and safe, with the need to provide affordable wastewater and storm water services in Northern Kentucky.

Through a number of strategic projects specifically designed to address sewer overflows, SD1 will meet the requirements of Northern Kentucky’s amended consent decree and improve the quality of life.

By the year 2040, Clean H2040 plans to “completely eliminate typical-year sanitary sewer overflows and recapture at least 85 percent of all typical-year combined sewer overflows.”

The shareholders in the Amsterdam Road Regional Retention Basin partnership have invested millions of dollars, and years of sweat and service, comprising an innovative team of leading government, public agency and private development officials and their staff from:

- Kenton County, led by Judge Executive Kris Knochelmann;
- The City of Park Hills, led by Mayor Kathy Zembrodt;
- The City of Covington, led by Mayor Joseph U. Meyer;
- Sanitation District №1 (SD1), the local utility managing Northern Kentucky’s wastewater and storm water, led by Executive Director Adam Chaney;
- Planning & Development Services of Kenton County, led by Director of Planning and Zoning Emi Randall;
Joshua One, developer of The Views on Dixie Highway and developer of the upcoming Park Pointe in Covington/Park Hills, a major catalyst of the infrastructure improvements. #JoshuaWon is represented by developer Paul Zeltwanger and Director of Construction Bryan Bailin.
