OMG.... you're so good. The visuals so clear. Are you a professional teacher. I'm so grateful 🙏
ОтветитьJames this is the vest grape pruning video I've seen! You explained and demonstrated it so well. Thank you!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! my husband and I purchased a home (michigan) about 5 yrs ago. We have grapes vines but just figured they didn't produce anything and have been just cutting them all down to use as a privacy fence in the summer. This yr there was a very small section with grapes on it just a couple days ago. I've been binge watching how to care for them so we can have more next yr. Your video has been the best help! I have to figure out what kind they are now so I can decide how to prune them (cane or spur). I love what I'm learning! The section that has grapes also has woody nightshade which is toxic. I also have trees and shrubs popping up along my fence. What do I do with these things?!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьOne of the best explanations on grapes.
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you. I’m a newbie from the UK & bought a young vine from my local store & had no idea how to look after it. Now i finally understand the pruning process. Your video was simple to follow & really informative.
ОтветитьSo what do you do with your grapes? None for Tuck! Much love instead ❤ ❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьGreat info, thanks James. Now I need to research which method to use with my new grape plants; one is a Concorde and the other is Catawba.
ОтветитьSub Indonesia 🙋🇵🇱
ОтветитьI planted grape vines 3 years ago and I done anything to them because I've been sick. Now what? I'm overwhelmed how much should and when should I do it. I think they r Concord Grapes I bought local Lowe's. Any help be appreciated the vines of gotten huge. I take picture once isn't raining.
ОтветитьSubscribed after watching this video! Love your energy. I'm a first year gardener (raised bed for my wife) and i'm on year 1 of Grape vine! I only have room for 1 Vine coming off the main stem due to space constraints. I wish i could send you a picture and get some advice on pruning my spurs. I mistakenly pruned my first 3 spurs after the bend to promote growth along my wire (I think thats a mistake?). Now i'm struggling to understand what to prune, within year (its July 3rd 2023), to promote grape flowering next year. i.e. I have multiple spurs coming out of the same bud. Do i let it grow or train it somehow?
ОтветитьI have an arbor...5 vines on each side. My father built the arbor and planted 10+ years ago, passed away and so it hasn't been pruned in years. It produces many grapes, but is just a mess. Where to i start ?
ОтветитьSo what if you only have 1 plant? Can you just have more canes? I have had my concord grape plants for a long time. I prune 3 times a year. First prune is usually when I see the clusters start. So I cut off the branch and just leave 2 clusters to grow. Then I go back in a few months to cut the ones trying to grow where I cut the first ones. Then in the fall to keep it under control. I might go back in and take out weak looking branches or ones that aren't growing where I want them to grow.
ОтветитьDo you reccomend pruning at planting or no?
ОтветитьThe most important thing about this channel is they are giving importance to the environment love it ❤
ОтветитьMy grapes are 3 years old and are ready to prune LETS GROW!
ОтветитьExcellent video and tutorial. I have a cane pruning variety on the arbor, it’s been 4years now and it finally reach the top of arbor, is this normal it hasn’t been fruiting or flowering before it reaches the top? I left 4 old canes at the bottom, is it too much for the energy?
ОтветитьThank you so much James! Finally a video that I could completely understand and grasp the whole process of pruning my grapes. Hugs for Tuck.
ОтветитьBest tutorial!
ОтветитьHow do you keep the weeds down?
ОтветитьThanks for the detailed tutorial 🙏🏻
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this information 👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьThank you! Very informative. Much better explanation than other videos I've watched.
ОтветитьHow do you know which ones to cane or spur? Is it just personal preference or is it dependent on variety?
ОтветитьHello from the UK. That was a very useful video thank you. Would you have a video on thinning the fruit in the spring or are you likely to do a video soon? I have a 3 to 4 year old vine with one main trunk with lots of spurs coming off. At this time we have thousands of clusters of flowers and I am getting conflicting advice for thinning flowers every 12 inches or 20 inches. You suggested do not prune from the spring but i assume thinning them will be ok? Thanks Steve
ОтветитьGee, I don't know what to do. I am in pruning my grape vines this year. It's now mid-April already & they've started budding! 😢
ОтветитьAre Concord grapes cane or spur pruned? I am starting grapes this year, and I'm learning.
Ответитьthank you. that was a very informative video.
ОтветитьHow do you decide to cane prune or spur prune?
ОтветитьI love the detail, I currently don't have grapes growing but I'm letting my waiting room be a classroom. I love your food forest
ОтветитьHello Mam
Thanks for the detailed information
Can we prune the vine in early April?
Wow. You really did a great presentation on this. Thanks!
ОтветитьI think I understand it better now. I thought of trying overhead growing but it seems for me, it'll be better for me it on fence line cause I'm short so it will be less work I think. Thanks James
ОтветитьHello James (or anyone who knows). Fellow Jersey boy here. Just put in some Reliance Grapes. Bare root, main stalk, no canes. Once they grow canes this year, how should I prune next year- Cane or Spur?
ОтветитьI was lost but now I’m a professional. Thanks for the class. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
ОтветитьI PLANTED 'PINOT NOIR' GRAPES AND LET THEM GROW ALONG THE GROUND AND GOT COVERED WITH WEEDS AND THEY QUINTUPELD PRODUCTION COMPARED TO 'CONCORD GRAPES' THAT I TRELLISED.
ОтветитьHey, James! I've just discovered your channel, and I LOVE it! I know you have Einstein grapes; one of your faves. Where can I find this variety???? I've got a sunny hill here in N. GA and gotta fill it with grapes! Big hugs to you and Tuck! Cat
Ответитьbest explanation EVER! I’m a little late pruning, but sooo confident after this video! Thanks so much!!
Ответитьya'll say it grows on 1 yr old canes but yet were suppose to clear every cordon every yr of any spurs so where is the 1yr old growth? grapes are so confusing.
ОтветитьAny tips for me? I’m in south Florida..
ОтветитьThe growth from the 2 buds when spur pruning how long do you let them grow?
Thanks
Leo

ОтветитьWhy is seedless grapes not as sweet as grapes with seeds? Possibly G M O ?
ОтветитьWhat type of fertilizer you recommend for grapes ?
Ответить🌱🟢
Ответитьthanx dear for guiding...drhabibullah babar from balochistan pakistan❤❤
ОтветитьSo I understand it... but if you keep leaving the 1year old growth as canes, in 5 years time, won't the 1 year old canes then be like 12 feet away from the trunk?
Like every year it's taking a step further and further away?
This was very helpful. Thank you!
