didnt work for me. my flash would bing, but no icon, etc.

fdisk -l,

wasnt getting the last lines "device boot", /dev/sdb1, just the disk /dev/sdb (sde in my case) part.

sudo mount /dev/sde /media/usb gave error. forget what.

finally... mkfs.vfat /dev/sde woke it up.

now how to figure out why i suddenly have multiple /dev/loop from nowhere, and exactly where these two volumes, 66mb and 77mb just appeared from.

ffs.

im going to give up on cnc machining and go back to twiddling handles. stuff actually gets done.

five days trying to even get to trial linuxcnc? am i the only one that seems to get this runaraound everytime? effing computers.

So...suggestion.... put the commands in the description....before "show more." And I'll give ya 10,000 thumbs up... if I could! LOL!

Muito obrigado!! Levei um susto quando descobri que algo tão simples no windows precisa de algumas linhas de comando para ser feito no linux. Nem é tão difícil, mas com certeza não é prático.

I’m experiencing the same issues. However my usb drive is picked up if I wait 15 minutes. Although my usb drive is not listed in de disks program while it is visible in the prompt menu. This is a strange thing. I hope this will get solved very soon, because I want to give Linux mint to my girlfriend.

You can do the same thing in a few clicks via GUI. Open "Disks" from menu (gnome-disk-utility). It will already list the disks as per fdisk -l. Choose the correct disk on the left, on the right will be shown its partitions. For a drive that didn't auto-mount, simply click the play button (triangle) and it will mount.
