ОтветитьWindows 3.0 has Mutimedia Extensions when you have the version with the 1.0 version of Multimedia Extensions installed with the Operating System installed so thst you can have sounds and MIDI play if you have the compatible sound card that works with Windows 3.0.
ОтветитьSpeaking of Nokia PCs, there is an OEM version of IBM OS/2 with the Nokia logo on bootup. Fun stuff.
ОтветитьThe Computer Chronicles - Windows 3.0 (1990)
ОтветитьI can almost smell these old stuff. Mhmm. Smells good.
ОтветитьLawks, just installed Windows 3.1 and the memories started coming back. All these games I forgot about like Rodent's Revenge!
ОтветитьI would love to use that old interface in windows 11
ОтветитьSo those plastic things have program language code that then converts to machine code that then converts to matrix code that then converts into quantum light code for the computer to then read and run windows ?
ОтветитьVery interesting. I didn't even know there was Win 3.0, and you mentioned 3.11? I bought a 486 back in '93 or so. Anyway, I had Win 3.1, which I thought was amazing. I upgraded to Win 95. I had a blast learning the basics. Now, I have Win 11 and honestly, I miss my old-school computers. I like watching your videos, even though I don't understand everything you talk about.
Ответитьi still have my 3.0 installation disks (5 1/4) couldn't tell you if they still work.. if not, i suppose i could write a new copy to them?
ОтветитьOh man, one of those Nokia 386s was my first computer, specifically the MikroMikko ("MicroMike") 4 m336SX, or DT336SX as I believe it was called outside Finland. I wish I still had it.
Ответитьmy LGR mug just arrived! unboxed while watching this video :D

ОтветитьCasio FP 6000
ОтветитьThat wood grain PC is disgustingly beautiful!
ОтветитьMaking it all make sense™
ОтветитьAh the days of allocating memory above the "maximum memory" of 640 k of ram. Changing the Autexec.bat and config.sys to get your PC running good.
ОтветитьOh that keyboard! Ohhhh baby....
ОтветитьThis is where my vintage computer passion started
ОтветитьRandom Trivia: did you know Gabe newell from Valve Software works in this specific version of windows. Yeah I know and yes there the number 3. so technically He did release something with the #3

I am an upper goober old-school I T nerd and remember the 1994 war of MS Dos IBM Os/2 wars.. and the first E3 expo held at the Georgia world congress center due to an undiagnosed illness I taught myself Quick BASIC aka Qbasic... however I attended E3 expo2004 tenth anniversary in Los Angeles for my 21st birthday.. and it was glorious one of my items on lived a great high quality life before I die... I was born in 83.. the video games rot your brain Nintendo generation.. I decided I'm going to learn how to make video games I have various IT certifications and licenses like amateur radio license FAA remote uav/ drone licenses
So,before W8 and W8.1,there was W3 and W3.1
I wasn't aware of the W3 edition of Windows
I kinda feel guilty about when I upgraded to Win95. The salesperson said "I guess you'll like the improvements." and without thinking I said "Oh yeah, that Windows 3 stuff is so crappy, absolute garbage. I mean, God, what was Microsoft thinking? I still get nauseous whenever I remember doing something involving Windows 3. I'm not so much moving into the future as I am trying to escape the horrible, disgusting past..." and the poor guy looked uncomfortable. 🤣

ОтветитьIt's so large, it demands an audience.

Ah back in the good old days, when you didn't have multiple updates every week!
ОтветитьI think i love those manual books, i read them all since i was a kid. It was marvelous
Ответитьbiggest difference between windows 3.0 and 3.1 for me: 3.1 didn't run on my 286 :D
ОтветитьAre those Nokia-computers known as "MikroMikko"-line of computers? I tried to google those numbers that LGR shows, but couldn't find anything other than cellphones.
ОтветитьBack in the day and even to this day I always tried to set up the swap file to a separate hard drive something Linux made easy.
ОтветитьBack in the day I would install MSDOS and after that is set up I’d install Windows. I never could get myself to install Windows without DOS. Windows 95 was the first Windows I ever installed clean with no DOS.
ОтветитьMan I wish I had an old computer to install these old OS's on. I wanna play around with them so bad
ОтветитьThat computer is snappier than most modern PCs.
ОтветитьWow, it's amazing how crap it was.
