Unfortunately I can't use mask in Lightroom... Does anyone know an alternative for it ? Recently Im learning how to edit pictures with this app and my presets are nice but I really realize that they won't be great if I can't use mask

Still don’t understand the mentality of purchasing tens of thousands of dollars worth of cutting edge camera equipment only to use processing to remove all of the quality those products provide. Why not just buy a $50 point-and-shoot and call it a day?

Pro tip. Use lumnosity masking to set amount of grain depend of amount of light in the photo. Darker parts should be more grainy than highlights.

Having grown up shooting with 35mm film - if you like that look, why not just shoot film. Why fake it?

I'll use a minor black mist style filter on my lenses with a warmer white tone in body. I use on1 and they have a bleach bypass effect with very granular control to the saturation, brightness, tone, etc. I've found that a mix of the filter, which could be duplicated with a gaussian blur in most editors, and a light touch with a bleach bypass brings in a lot of this effect. Been a while since I used lightroom, so I'm not sure if there's a similar bleach bypass editing tool baked in, but you get the idea.

Tbh, for some reason, i get a more "film" feeling using very old dslrs. For example, shooting with 1d mark II, in conteast to even 5d mark ii, feels so more "film like"

Wow that's crazy! I didn't think the re-haze feature would actually make it seem so film-like but it did wonders for the photo!

Would not selecting just the background in the mask negate the other subject masks?

Color transparency film (E6 processed) actually pops more, especially Fujichrome Velvia and the like. Perhaps the "haze" you're referring to is more related to color print film (C41 processed), which is more muted and wishy washy...
