Seems like KDFW always has terrain issues. Its one of my favorite airports, but I hardly fly out of there anymore because of all the issues

Don't think it was directly an autopilot failure. The instant decrease of 1000ft at the point of failure is most likely related to a static pressure system issue that feeds into an ADC (air data computer) and subsequently to the AFCS (auto-flight control system) but because this data became corrupt the ADC or AFCS recognized it to be unreliable and therefore at that time the autopilot is unavailable until an ALTN static source is provided. I'm not familiar on airbus systems so with my current knowledge this would be my best guess.

As for raw data flying an ILS, use the heading bug corrected for wind on the localizer course, and make corrections inside the bug. Keep the instrument scan going, fly attitude and avoid chasing instruments. In a multi-crew aircraft you would ask the PM to make all the config changes to literally everything so you can keep your eyes on the instruments, so obviously in the single-pilot sim this presents big difficulties.

Autopilot for that plane is still an issue, i had a hard time getting it kicked on out of take-off.
