Number 11 doing water changes. Set your tank up to work like a natural ecosystem no more water changes. Number 12 all tanks need bacteria if everything is in balance the good bacteria keeps negative bacteria in check.

The only time my fish died was because the air tubing slipped off of my air pump. The fish suffocated. Really important to make sure this doesn’t happen. Also, duckweed is amazing, because it’s basically an unlimited food source for hungry fish. It doesn’t replace fish food, but it is a snack most fish will eat throughout the day. It multiplies so quickly, that there is enough for everyone

You need lessons frm Father Fish. Nitrates can work to you're advantage. Also there isn't any plants in your tank

My local fish store told me get bettas because they’ll cycle tank. Turn on the filter and it throw fish in. They said for big community tank throw feeder fish in. Idk how I have not lost any but I do a lot of water changes and add prime, bacteria, and all types of stuff after joining fb groups and realizing the fish store people were wrong

What about frozen blood worms 🪱 feeding 1 beta 2 frogs, an algae eater and a loach bottom feeder. The frogs hog most the worms so I do 1 square cut in half then 4 pieces. Is this too much ? For the other betta I do 1/2 a square. Usually every 3 days.

most of my tanks have HOB's, canisters, under gravel plenums, deep bed substrate and sponge filters. I do have a tank that was sponge filters only but many of my air pumps went out and one 30 gallon tank has no air, no substrate no filtration at all. I have 2 small cichlids in there and they live. I do love over filtration but is not always required.

When you change the water, run the tank for 5 hours before you return the fish. You don't need dechlorintion stuff!
I only feed my fish twice a week!
(they ARE pond gold fish though and i have had them years!)

A lot of great tips! I always recommend controllers for heaters. They're not super expensive, especially when it comes to replacing all your fish, and the readout makes it so easy to monitor. Absolutely on the qt too!!

I have never "cycled" a tank, and I have never had my fish die. I do always use a de-chlorinator though. Back in the 1980s I had a 60 gallon with African cichlids and it lasted me many years, getting married and moving before the bottom broke one day.

This gentleman is very correct
Iv had my gold fish for 14 years
The power went of for a couple of days she got dropsy I managed to keep her alive for one more year busting the bubbles and using a treatment.
You need to follow the instructions the man gave.
I myself really on the bacteria in the gravel to support the aquarium.
But I don't let the ammonia overwhelm the environment. good luck to all.

this guy is nonsense. Water must be alive. To make it alive, you need to give it time. Number 1 reason that kills fish are these chemicals such as dechlorane etc. Let the water become alive. I never ever change my water for years. Water needs to grow bacteria and everything. It takes time. Beginners can follow this fools advice though. Have fun killing your fish
