Cause the inhabitants forced to live in your self made fiefdom would dare cry foul does not make them "mean." Worst bullies I've seen in post secondary education hide behind the lie "educator". You wield your state imposed power like a drunk communist, always shoring up your delicate self worth.

This is why tenure sucks. They can just do whatever to us and laugh at our confusion and misery.

Undergrad students need to realize that professors are not teachers. They are not there to "teach" you. They are there to "guide" you through the course.

You do your own study and the professor discusses the theories and its applications during lectures. That's why we have reference books / textbooks.

Edit: the teaching part is usually done by Tutors / TA. That's why we have them.

Reminder: Harvard professors are not there to teach instead they are the to research.

A teacher is supposed to make it as easy as possible for students to learn hard things, people pay a lot of money for collage, the teachers work for the students not the other way around.

Students should be able to choose between different teachers just like you can choose a different doctor at the hospital.

Kowing your subject does not make you a good teacher. many of them need to do teacher training and the English woman spoke so falsely. What a pretend snob. Classsssssssssssssss. Come on. I an Englsh so I can say that.

NGL Econ will suck no matter where you take it. Class has so many new concepts and the questions are very "Gotcha" type questions.

These are some very tame "mean" comments. The only one that came off as mean was the last one.

I know that there are gonna be students that complain about teachers at every uni, but as someone who went to a small uni in south Texas, I would LOVE the opportunity to sit through just one lecture at Harvard.

Of course, I've never sat in a lecture hall with him so I don't know, but I have been fascinated by Steven Pinker for years. I just can't understand anybody who would fall asleep in his class. This kind of makes me really angry for some reason LOL

It's not about teaching but how they set up the grading system and exams. They can be the best instructors at teaching but what's the point when the exams are weirdly set up?

It is remarkable that these Harvard professors show no self reflection or any incentive to improve. Save your money, a Harvard education is not worth the exorbitant costs.

Imagine having reached adulthood, being admitted to one of the world's most prestigious universities, and somehow still be able to make such narrow minded comments. Love Dr. Mankiw’s dramatic reading of the student’s complaint. Really capture’s the emotion evident in this kid’s epic battle with Economics 10. What is even more astounding is Ec 10 is a lower level, first year Econ course. This is likely an 18 / 19 year old. Imagine taking your first college Econ class, maybe for GE, and your teacher is the former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors — literally the top economic advisor to the President of the United States — and you get to grade him and tell everyone his class “sucked”.
