I had a female GSD before and she was absolutely amazing. I have a male GSD now and I adore him, but if I get another GSD again I'll get a female again.
ОтветитьI can say something about lifespan. My mom’s friend has a female German shepherd she rescued from a puppy mill. She lived to 16 years 😂 Sweetest dog ever. R.I.P
ОтветитьThe reason some veterinarians and canine experts recommend spay/neuter at a later age between 18 months and 2 years is because of growth and maturity stunts. This doesn’t just have to do with the actual size of the dog, but how their joints, muscles, facial structure, and even mentality are affected. Most dogs stop maturing physically around 2 years old, which means alterations before that time can cause the so called “stunts”. On the other hand, I can also understand why people may spay/neuter earlier than the 2 year mark. Hormones run rampant through young growing dogs, which can often cause behavioral issues like resource guarding, aggression(mainly in males) and territorial marking, which can make house training difficult. It can also put them at risk of testicular or ovarian cancers as well. I believe it’s completely fair for an owner to alter their dog based on personal circumstances.
ОтветитьWow, my Sadie is the same age, height, and weight as Lucy.
ОтветитьAbsolutely do not get fix a female before 2 years . They will have a smaller head and can develop incontinence. As in pissing uncontrolled. I was told 9 months and she had a smaller head and leaked all over . She has passed on now and I have a 10 month female and no chance in hell before 2 years .
ОтветитьI always recommend after the very first heat to spay and neuter in my neighborhood intact male or females are stolen everyday so instead of thinking of our views on our animals health but the protection from other humans using them primarily for profit
ОтветитьGSD is like 'Must stay awake'
ОтветитьNo testosterone so, female GSD's are far easier and better to manage in our experience. Less competition, very motherly and protective. Ours have always gone around the house to check on our well bring, before pottering off somewhere else.
ОтветитьI have owned Dobermans and GSDs. I never give them treats for being good dogs. Don't even start. That's the end of my advice.
ОтветитьGot a female and shes fine a little skidish arund new dogs but thats getting better and better just need to work on leash reactivity
ОтветитьIntro to long.
ОтветитьFirst tip:
Do not listen to this douche berry. Nothingwrong with FM shepards.
Your title says alot about your lack of information.
-1 for misleading title.
my nieces GS is female and 95 pds. She doesn't look fat at all but I was shocked. But I did notice when she accidently ran into me she was a tank. Grew up with a 70 pd male GS and he was the best dog ever. Amazing. He is literally considered a legend and a saint in our family.
ОтветитьIn terms of being easier to train, a lot of people in the comment section seem to be confusing submissiveness with intelligence.
Males are generally harder to train because they are more independent.
We have had four GS 3 female and 1 male we found them to be quite equal in general all scared of thunder all bonded to one person mainly my wife except our last female which was my shadow they were all very clever and easy to train, especially the male who could fetch different toys by telling him the name of the toy to get, we found our GS lasted between 11 to 13 years, we also had a husky with our last 2 GS they got on so well but not a good guard dog like GS
ОтветитьTerrible video all assumptions made by someone who is not an expert in dogs or GSD in particular.
ОтветитьIt's cute how she's just sitting there patiently.
ОтветитьAlso applicable to human males.
ОтветитьMy girls a year and a half old. In scent detection. She’s a machine❤
ОтветитьI love my female GSD.
Ответитьfemale German Shephards are simply more intelligent than males, I had females and males and females are really really fantastic!
ОтветитьMy vet wants to spay mine at 5 months. 😮
ОтветитьI need advice. We have a 2 and a half femal German Shepherd. She is a rescue dog abandoned outside the animal shelter. We adore luna but she has a strange habit. She will tear leaves or plants and bring them to us as if she wants us to throw them to her . We never do of course. I tell her No ,but nothing doing. Sometimes shd vomits and is obviously ingests part of them. She will also bring us stones and im TERRIFIED that one will get stuck in her throat or that she will swallow them. We just cant stop her doing this !!! She has had so many toys, balls and really hard( as well as soft and medium) dog bones but she destroyes them all or buries them in the garden(6 thousand metres) never to be seen again. She also has chewed and swallowed parts of them. Is she neurotic? Im at my wits end. She loves playing with frizbies but if we leave it with her she destroyes them in no time. She is nowhere as intelligent as Laica my first German shepherd but she is learning now to be affectionate. Im wondering if she went through some sort of trauma before we had her. So my question is,does anyone please know of a toy that's INDESTRUCTIBLE ??
ОтветитьANNOYING START FOR SUCH A GOOD VIDEO
ОтветитьShe is so calm and attentive, but looks a little bored with your video. LOL She must be a wonder family member. :)
ОтветитьRule of thumb is get them spayed after two heat Cycles for German shepherds
ОтветитьMy wife claimed my female German S. Was in love with me!! She was and I felt the same way about her!!!❤❤❤❤
Ответитьso well behaved, good girl xx
ОтветитьShes beautiful, reminds me of my girl who passed the rainbow bridge last year! they are the best dogs!
ОтветитьCracking game fair result.. 👍
ОтветитьWith all pets, females are the best, guard dogs excepted.
Ответитьtry 7 years go to dr waters gerald p murphy fountation or watch karen becker the truth about spaying and fixing
ОтветитьDe-sexed? It's crazy how these abominable practices are so normalized in our society.
ОтветитьShe is beautiful !
ОтветитьOne thing I am seeing are unsocial dogs because of the corona pandemic.
Hope yours do well with new people and dogs too.
The reasons you should wait to desex
1. Brain maturity
2. Increased risk of breast canser
3. Bone densidy
I love Germany Shepherd
ОтветитьI had a female GS as a kid. She was fantastic with the family. Very protective and very easy to deal with. Highly recommend the female. Much more docile than the males.
ОтветитьHave had many dogs in my 70 years on this earth but our female German Shepherd was by far the best dog I have ever owned. She made an excellent farm dog who helped with herding cattle as well as a gentle herder of the chickens. She was an excellent guard dog. but at the same time was very sociable. I could go on and on about her because she made such an impact on me.
ОтветитьIts ok to have a female GS. Not ok to marry one. Because they have character, most humans dont, and its never fair to hurt any living being.
ОтветитьJust telling people to NOT get a female Sheppard is seriously stupid.
ОтветитьI had a female GSD (Sinbad) for almost 14 years. She was 44kg! The biggest sweetheart. If you yelled at her, she would pee! Now I have another female GSD (Coco), she is normal 31kgs.
ОтветитьI had two shepards. The male shepard had a biting issue and we had to give the dog to a farmer. It was the only male dog we had. We also had a female shepard and she was the best. She was protective and loyal. I don't think i would get another male dog again.
ОтветитьDrop the metric
ОтветитьBringing up Lucy
ОтветитьI had an 85 pound female Dobie. I had her spayed at 5 months. She was protective but very gentle. The best dog I ever had. Very smart and easy to train.
ОтветитьMy father had female german shepherd, he liked to get some beer, and since mom was always nagging him for drinking beer, he usually did it while walking dog (sometimes for hours). One day he got too many beers and fell asleep in park. Dog was protecting him from all city guards and policemen trying to give him a ticket for sleeping in park on bench.
ОтветитьI love how well behaved Lucy is while you do this video. However, she stopped looking at you or the camera as soon as you pulled out the tug, her eyes went to that and stayed there and she looked even more interested when you brought out the multi-colored tug. I can tell that is one of her favorite "training" exercises. Thank you for the information. I am considering a German Shepherd because I grew up with one and Bullet was the most loyal and loving dog I've ever owned. I live in the city and although we have a dog park there have been issues with people letting their dogs loose and going back to sit in their vehicles. Unfortunately, the city just posted a sign and decided they had done enough.
ОтветитьAmazing how Lucy stays on the chair just letting dad do his podcast while she says nothing but just looks good.
ОтветитьI have a male German Shepherd. He's 11 years old now and still trucking along. He is from actual German bloodlines, so that may have something to do with his longevity. I was very lucky to find him. It was a breeders last litter before he sold all his dogs.( this was the first and only time I bought from a breeder, my other dogs were shelter rescues) You said you thought males only lived to about 9 years old, but I am sure there are other people out there watching this that are also an exception.
