is it a bad idea to use the "automatically fuse rank 1 + 2 crystals"? Would that mess up any progression of good crystals?

This really helps a lot! I’m towards end game and got by just amateurly fusing crystals, but with the Ultimate Boss coming up, I wanted to fuse properly. Only problem is, my inventory is full and I can’t seem to sell my crystals. Do you know a way to remove useless crystals from my inventory??

The game really lacks proper explanations for basically everything the only "hard" part about the game is having to figure out everything for yourself

My only minor gripe about the game is I wish the tutorials weren't text based and did something like FF forced walkthrough of materia slotting or junctioning etc. 10/10 game still!

Correction not many know of, you can actually use a fused asterisk crystal again as fuse material after you've first imbued and then removed the crystal from your gear. You will notice the asterisk disappear.

You can also balance out crystal sizes; for example fusing a size 1 with a size 3 creates a size 2 crystal.

This is how it all works at least in the PC version.

What I do is ignore all the 2,3 slotted ones, choose only the 1 slotted crystals. So you wont accidentally make these big crystals. Purity doesnt matter but at least get at least 1 crystal with purity of 3 and above. it is better to combine them later on when you have a lot of crystals already to not be wasteful, accidentally sell a weapon with crystals. The minimum to start is to use purity 3 crystal. It can be rank 1. So fusing 1,3,3,3 would get you a 10. The goal is to get 1 slotted rank 10. As long as the base has purity of 3+ you cannot mess up.
