DITCH Windows Explorer for Files!

why after i bought & use your Files , i feel my pc is so lagggy , i am pretty sure that my pc spec & ram are more than enough to support this , but still feel so lag , every click on files need to wait for 3-5s to response and this problem is gone when i used back ori file explorer , its so frustrating and annoying , anyway to solve or fix it ? 😭😭 btw is win11

Electron apps are always shit in terms of performance. This thing looks nice, but horribly slow compared to File Explorer.

Did they get rid of Bundles, I don't see them available in any of the later versions or even mentioned in the documentation.
Edit: They got rid of Bundles and replaced them with Tags - which are slightly less appealing and more difficult to add, but can be more selective.

Its sluggish and wonky/buggy. At first i was amazed but later i saw that its not that awesome and lacked some crucial features for me. I switched to FreeCommander. Its still not as awesome as Dolphin from KDE which is my daily driver but with few adjustments here and there makes working on windows much more bearable.

While this a "cute" alternative to the Win11 garbage explorer, it has the same boring black or white background. It's a shame no one has, to this day, created a file explorer alternative that allows ME to choose my folder backgrounds - crap colors or AMAZING! full color images. As a professional photographer, well, let's say it WON'T be plain, bland, blank color backgrounds. It's a shame the Windows 7 background changers don't work in Win11. So, no matter how it stands now, Win11 is still crap when compared to Win7. Not all upgrades are TRUE upgrades - Windows 1.0 anyone?

I wish I had this app sooner, was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why Windows Explorer kept crashing when opening network folders and Files works like a charm.

Can you turn off the display for recently accessed files and also set new tabs/windows to open to "drives" in this case for Files?

As of 2022-2023, Windows Explorer got major improvements and it beats this file manager

Microsoft could definitely make file explorer better than files v2, but they decide to not and now were here, using a 3rd part files app because its just superior in its management in where icons are and where important things should be.

Also, the glass theme has been removed back in Dec 2022, dunno why but the dev/s removed it themselves, which is a shame, it looks really good.

It wasnt clear to me how you install this app or program.

one time i cut/paste files from one folder to another and it lost them,. I prefer ugly windows explorer than nice designed app that is slow and losing files

Guys I need help, every time I open the program and set it maximized I can’t access my taskbar when it’s in auto hide mode, any help would be appreciated, thanks

I tried the preview mode which seems free and here's my impressions after 5-10 min of usage. While it looks promising - clean UI, tab support, good mouse bindings (middle click folder to open in new tab, middle click tab to close it, double click empty space to go up a directory). But it is very noticeably slower than explorer - I feel it in many things, like bringing up the context menu or scrolling a list. Also don't love the "show more options" in the context menu but I'm guessing it's inherited from Windows 11's terrible stopgap solution for trying to maintain backwards compatibility with all their legacy code. Looking at how slowly Window 10's settings menu is progressing in its effort to replace Control Panel, I can only sympathize with their engineers who have to deal with backwards compatibility.

The slowness aside, there's also no equivalent "list" view which is kind of a deal breaker for me. Didn't try copying files but I've already uninstalled it. I used to use Clover + Explorer for tabs but eventually resigned myself to the stock explorer because of its rare stability issue (not really a good excuse). I also tried to make XYplorer my default file manager once upon a time but the integration was never complete so now I just have it open separately on the side for niche use cases. It's a shame that Microsoft is only bringing tabs to explorer in Win 11. I'll wait for them to sort out their context menu before I even think about upgrading.

About a few months into using this program and all of a sudden I cannot get to external hard drives or the C drive without opening a folder I've left on my desktop then moving backwards to then get to that drive all my favorites are disappeared none of the tag systems work while it is faster for searching up files within folders that's pretty much all I use this program for is faster file search. Very redundant program slow
