Here's one I figured out with my friends: If your dead friends have figured something out you can have them answer yes or no questions using the items found on the map. When one of us dies, we pick up a random object, bring it to the truck and agree something like "if yes throw the item at the pc, if no drop it on the floor" then we can ask something like "do you know the ghost type" or "is the ghost slow during hunts"

We're only ever using the in-game voice chat so it's not cheating :P

I didn't know that smudging the ghost increases activity. I'll be sure to use that from now on.

So wait if it steps in salt and the picture isn’t called footsteps it’s a wraith? Because I learned that if a ghost steps in salt at all it’s never a wraith. Cuz wraiths can’t and wont step in salt-.

I personally always go for a Camcorder, Glowstick, photocamera starter set.
I turn on the breaker, check cursed object and bone to take photo's.

Glowstick is easy light, camera doubles for phantom test and the cam is to check for mimic.
I drop it all, go back and grab temp, emf and DOTS on the second run I go for book, sprit box and a lighter/crusifix.

Start investigating for quick evidence or run one last time for smudge and the rest

I was in training map today and the ghost turned out to be onryo. It threw the book around without writing in it.

I know this guide is about 7 months old, but anyone new coming in, Onryo will use both candle and crucifix me and some buddies had a hunt where the onryo would blow out the candle, and then the crucifix would burn after. Maybe im misunderstanding and he means if the crucifix goes before the candle rule out onryo idk. Just keep that in mind, if candle goes before crucifix it's probably on onryo :)

tip 12 flows from a false premise: ruling out evidences when the ghost can hide them, there's no way to know if a ghost is hiding an evidence

I didn't know about the remote trick. I never use the tv, but now I know there's a use for it. I also never knew how many words and phrases the ghosts recognized 😳

the most important tip, that i've even had to explain to some high levels, is that the ghost descriptions in the journal are just flavor text. the only legit parts of it at the strengths and weaknesses. I've lost count of how many times someone tried to argue with me that wraiths can walk through walls. They cannot.

more tips:
1. Just like Mare will never turn on the power, Jinn will never turn it off. I have even had Jinn's turn on the power. not the lights, the breaker itself.
2. you can use the spirit box when the ghost is visible. this includes both manifestations and hunts. though i don't recommend trying it during a hunt unless you're absolutely sure of yourself.
3. every ghost except myling has range of 10m which you can hear it's footsteps and other ghostly noises during hunts. lights and equipment also flash at 10m. for myling the audio range is only 5m but the equipment is still 10m. so if you see the equipment flashing but you don't hear it, it's a myling.
4. banshees interact and attempt hunts more near their target. if you have a crucifix in another room and someone standing near it and the ghost takes a bite, that's a good sign it may be a banshee. or it changed rooms. you can confirm by putting the other crucifix in another room slightly further away and having that same person stand near it.
5. Oni is the only ghost that doesn't do the air ball ghost event. They also blink less than other ghosts during the hunt.
6. Phantoms disappear when you take their pic during a manifestation but the sound effect continues playing. Phantoms are also invisible longer during hunts.
7. if you have a 25% sanity objective and you complete it without the ghost every trying to hunt before that, it's a shade.
8. sound sensors are extremely helpful for narrowing down the ghost room when playing solo
9. when playing on nightmare, every ghost has specific guaranteed evidence types that tie to it's abilities. ex: hantu will always have freezing, goryo will always have dots, obake will always have fingerprints but can use it's ability to hide them, deogen will always have spirit box etc. and a mimic will always have a fake orb so if you get orb check for other mimic evidence
10. Don't say "woah you're level '****' all surprised when joining lobbies with high level players. the game has been out for like 3 years now. it is extremely easy to get a high level in that time even if you only play a few hours a month or less. It just annoys us when you do this and may result in you being kicked. especially from my lobbies.

Dunno if you alrdy got this tip suggestion. There are a few ghosts with forced evidence. If the ghost you are dealing with doesnt have the forced evidence of one of these other ghosts in limited evidence rounds, you can cross off the other ghosts.
Maybe do some generic tips too, like mentioning how shades dont hunt for a really long time (35% hst), and if the ghost hunts almost right as the ast hits below 50%, then you can cross of quite a few ghosts (of course dependant on scenarios. For example, yokais, you would have to be talking in it's room). But those obvious ones could be scratched off (demon, thaye, onryo).

How do you get away from the ghost if you can't use ur flashlight or should you only turn it off while hiding?

I know a good tip, every time after a hunt and ofcourse before a hint so at the beginning of the match too you should get yourself an escape route so you don’t struggle with finding a hiding spot

In Team, i take 3 salt bottle and put one salt in every room. Then the ghost will walk on one of all salt that you put in every room and you find the ghost room ( max 9 salt so 9 room ).

These tips are sweaty as hell and I love it. Thnx psycho
