Omg thank you for this. I’m a “rock drummer”type, but I haven’t been playing long enough for it to really be set in. About a year and a half total. I can lock in 16ths at 50-110-120, depending on the day. Sometimes even 130, but it never feels as good as say 90-110. Going to try your method, thank you.
ОтветитьI've developed plantar fasciitis in my left foot making it incredibly painful to stand or even walk. I attribute this to my double bass drumming, but I'm not exactly sure when, how, or why it happened.
ОтветитьYeah
ОтветитьI just don't understand how I'm supposed to move my leg with only my calves
ОтветитьHow can I make my bass louder every time I play theres a time where my bass sound low volume
ОтветитьHow do drummers like Jay weinberg keep their beater resting on the bass drum without using constant calf flexion while sittng above 90 at the knee?
ОтветитьI would love to get better at double bass drumming. What videos can I buy ?
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьGreat tips!!! Thanks a lot🤘
ОтветитьHeaps informative & helpful
Thanks mate 🤘🏻
intro track is gas
ОтветитьThank you soo much I never knew I was a fast cat
ОтветитьI like your NB shoes! What model is that?
ОтветитьIt’s crazy seeing you teach this method cuz this method helped me out and it’s crazy cuz I practice on the floor by default without even knowing that’s a way to practice 😂😂
ОтветитьI been trying to play like that
ОтветитьBeater weights basically make you rely on the pedal. So much more of an efficient way of playing. Less effort=longevity
Ответитьunfortunately beater weights are too expensive for me rn
Ответитьim a cat I guess
ОтветитьI'm Member from Marthyns DRUM TECHNIQUE ACADEMY since 06/22 and I can highly recommend it. 🙂
ОтветитьI´m a student at the DRUM TECHNIQUE ACADEMY since 3 Weeks and I learned in this short time more, than in the last years with my "old" Drum Teacher. This was the best Decision ever. Every Drummer who wants to play fast and tight (Hand & Feets) must join Marthyns Academy. Remember: Marthyn is the previous Drummer from the austrian BLACK/DEATH METAL Band BELPHEGOR! Any Questions?
ОтветитьI guess I‘ll lower my seat when playing in the pads to get that calves in shape. Yesterday I played with the tensions of springs, distance from the pedal, foot placement on the pedal & bass drum head tension. I kinda feel I got it now on the big kit as I felt no tension in the hip & used the swing as much as possible. To focus more on it I‘ll switch to the pads now.
ОтветитьThanks Bud!!!
ОтветитьI'm the fast cat type. :'(
ОтветитьIs your kit a hybrid? Looks like everything is electronic except the kick drums.
ОтветитьYou've just earned another subscriber. Thanks for the tips :)
ОтветитьGREAT VIDEO! Thank you Marthyn!
ОтветитьNow I know why Gene Hoglan wears ankle weights.
ОтветитьA question if I may. I am relatively new to double bass drumming. I have a Pearl Demon drive pedals. I am confused, should I set it up as a long or short board? Is there a preferred setup for heel-toe compared to ankle technique?
ОтветитьPure gold!
Thanks
Man, this makes me want to quit lol
ОтветитьI'm #4: The slow cat.
ОтветитьThis video is extremely helpful. I’m a rock drummer or stomper. Not which one yet but will figure it out. I was curious to see if u ever seen a drummer who uses his bass drum to keep timing during fills. Using it just like a hi hat would keep time. This is how I played for years. Never knew it was wrong or not common. Super weird doing fast rolls without stomping that bass drum through it
ОтветитьI'm a fast cat 🐈. I also have a hard time with my left foot syncopation with my right while drumming fast so my double bass technique sounds off. Watching this video helped alot thanks
ОтветитьI think I’m a mixture of 2 of these hahaha fuck my life
ОтветитьAfter watching this video,
you will find a Newbalance. 😎
Dad shoe gang! Whoop whoop
ОтветитьI’ve been playing the drums as the rock drummer all my life. No wonder I can’t learn double bass at all. This helped me a ton man THANK YOU
ОтветитьThank you for the valuable lesson :D
ОтветитьHi Marthyn! I use my calf muscles fairly well and i would probably fall into the "fast cat" category. The trouble is when i try to play slower tempos my upper thigh tenses up around the hip muscles and I can't maintain it for more than a few seconds. I sit fairly high on the throne and not too close to the bass drum. Could my leg muscles be damaged?
ОтветитьI think I’m a rock stomper fast cat, all in one
ОтветитьI absolutely love these videos! Thank you so much
ОтветитьExcellent video. I am a mix of all three I feel lol
ОтветитьVery informative. I'm just starting my double pedal journey and these videos help a lot
ОтветитьReally is inspirational to know thst you've been through this as well as your students; so many times this has happened to me that made think I am just simply not good for drums; now there is light at the end of the tunel, thanks man.
ОтветитьI have a problem when i try to go fast may leg/foot just like stops it’s weird thing to explain can any one help
ОтветитьQuestion. When you are using the ankle technique going slow medium tempos to fast bursts.. do you lean forward and use a bit of your hipflexors or shin? Or are you still just using the calf, ankle?
ОтветитьYour are a great teacher! Keep it up man!
