I didn't see you original coverage of Anthem. But from the content I have seen from you, you're concerns are usually grounded in reality. I for one did preorder and really enjoyed the demo, but I agree you probably shouldnt pre order any game now a days.

Do you remember early 2000's pc and console demos, i think they where the same as finished games.

The demo is not the final game there will be changes to both progression and economy everyone please be warned.

I suggest anybody thinking of buying anthem should wait until at least a month after release to see exactly what EA have planned regarding micro transactions and grind to reward

There are also time limits given to armour packs i.e. the $20 to buy or 40,000 credits to buy with a time limit in which to get them no doubt the game will be very grind a meaning you’ll need to play constantly all day to get anything of any substance

If anthem was free to play I’d be fine with the pricing structure however it’s not and therefore I’m not

Honestly my man? I understand the situation on both sides. The phrasing was poor, and your advise is solid, reasonable and based on facts. Bioware (this new one) seems to be doing their level best to be solid, up front and honest. They are invested in making their new franchise work.

That being said, EA's behavior and override ability means consumers absolutely have no reason to trust that what is in the demo will be a useful gauge of the final product. Hell, the first month or two may not be indicative of the long term setup. We've seen EA shove in MTX post launch period before and it's a very real concern for people to have.

Thank you for having a reasonable stance on this situation. People writing reviews based on the Demo certainly will happen. But that doesn't make the practice of doing that wise. It'd be insane to believe that the demo's results won't impact sales, both initially and long term.

At the end of the day, Bioware seems to have done their part from what I've seen. EA can destroy their work and ultimately harm themselves in the process in any number of ways. But much as I do not like EA, if you do things right, then you can earn my money. I for one hope that Anthem earns that money, because more good games succeeding is good for everyone.

You had healthy skepticism and suspicion based on their long history of this pattern of behavior, and they just tried to go into crazy damage control mode. Your skepticism was rightfully deserved here though. EA has completely lost the benefit of the doubt with consumers who have common sense and a memory longer than a goldfish, lol ;)

Do you know what the root of the problem is? Online availability. Games that came out before the ability to sell them digitally were complete, they had to be because you couldn't simply update them like you can today.

I may not always agree with you (although this is not one of those times) about games and their problems and producers. I DO appreciate the fact that you do not simply make a video "bitching" about different games and deceptive marketing practices, but back up what you think by the evidence you have found. I subscribed to your channel for this very reason. I also appreciate greatly that you do not scream, curse and demonize something you don't like. I want to thank you for very informative and researched videos. I too think that customer service through gaming is at an all time low. You can see this trend easily in retail situations. Now that the gaming community is growing older the tactics that sucked in the younger groups is now dealing with the same groups as an older demographic and they are not so easily fooled. The consumer that "Had to have the new Star Wars" title on the first possible day may now be dealing with things like rent and groceries and even children of their own. If more of the development groups watched videos like yours they may understand where the true problem lies. CUSTOMER SERVICE. Thank you for your excellent skills dealing with customers and thanks for your hard work.

So I've been thinking about this and playing the demo, I have a few of my own theories as to why they made the changes to the demo that they did.
1. The difficulty in the game changes the drop rates of rarer weapons/equipment. I believe they changed the difficulty so that it would be easier for more people to play on harder difficulties to get the cooler things.
2. The economy, all of the (very limited) number of cosmetics in the game can be purchased with 25 "Coin" it takes about 2 or 3 missions to get that. I believe that this change was also made to make the cooler things more accessible.

Basically I think they made the changes they did so everyone could easily try all the cool things.

A demo should be indicative of the final product. Dumbing down the demo is lying about the final product.

I’m VERY skeptical about Anthem’s full game release! They changed the environment background big time! The environment texturing is way off and downgraded. The interactiveness of the environment and enemy interaction from the trailers vs the demo is so different. Makes me skeptical enough of the full release, I’m DEFINITELY waiting for an Angry Joe review of it before I even think of buying it. The hype was killed with the demo.
