I plqy my first 2 campains simultaneously, one with a twilght cleric and one as a battlemaster (str bases). I dont know if its necessary to multiclass one of the classes. On one side, its nice to get a dip into another class, on the other side, i never know at what level and how deep, because everytime i think about it, it feels, like i miss something in one class or the other.

I played a Battle Master Fighter Divine Soul Sorcerer up to level 20 (roleplay multiclassing) and it ended up kind of bonkers with three attacks, action surge, and spirit shroud... Most campaigns don't get to 20 but this build did nuke single targets really fast.

The best way to make a Bacon Grilled Cheese is probably to keep it simple and use bacon fat to toast the sandwich, but you could use a smoked gouda to bring a bacony flavor to the filling for sure.

Did some scribbles on a psi warrior/battle smith artificer -> ~150 max dmg on nova round at level 10. Assuming a normal round and avg dmg would be around 45 dmg depending on if you hex or not. + rp as an artificer and telekinetic martial warrior flinging enemies around, flying, boosting your friends around and a metal beast giving disadvatage once a turn on enemy attacks... go shadar-kai with raven queen and add misty steps to the whole telekinetic mix and resistances would be nice aswell...

I love the idea of an eldritch knight something up to 7 and a war mage 2 or 3. With that you basically always get +2 Armor and +4 saving throws. With level three you also get second level spells.
With all these low level spells your eldritch knight can cast shield and absorb elements all day without resting.
Plus 9 cantrips. That helps the utility of your fighter

One of my favorite multiclass characters i ever played was my battlemaster fighter with 5 levels of Swords Bard. High Dex, Rapier, Shield, Defensive Duelist. Hit them, use defensive flourish and now my AC was above 20. They hit me? Use the feat and now they miss. They miss? I hit with a riposte. I was the tank and was doing great damage.

The Warlock is at least a B if not an A and here's why.

Subclasses:
The Fiend warlock grants Temp HP equal to Charisma modifier + your warlock level when you kill an enemy (Which you will do a lot because you're a fighter).
The Undead warlock can as a bonus action gain Temp HP equal to 1d10 + your warlock level and make enemies you hit frightened of you.
The Celestial warlock grants 1 + warlock levels in d6's that you can bonus action heal at a range of 60ft.

Eldritch Invocations:
At 2nd level you can choose 2 invocations like; Devil's Sight, Eldritch Sight, Mask of Many Faces, Misty Visions to just name a few amazing options.

Pack Boons:
You can could take the Pack of the Blade; gaining a magical weapon that you can teleport into your hand at anytime, combine it with Improved Pact Weapon to gain a +1 weapon that can be used as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells.
Or you could take the Pack of the Chain and gain a imp familiar; an imp is immune to fire and poison, resistant to cold & non-magical weapon damage, can fly, turn invisible, can shape change into other creatures, has Magic Resistance, and has an attack that deals extra poison damage.

Spell Slots:
As a warlock you gain your spell slot back on a short rest, which synergizes will with all of the fighter abilities that come back on a short rest as well.

You gain all of this with just 3 warlock levels which is incredibly good value.
bonus action.

I love the idea of starting as a Barbarian that then multiclasses into Fighter, RP-wise like they're starting to hone their combat skills outside of their natural strength and rage, perhaps after an event like getting outclassed by a more skilled warrior in a duel. Flipped, a fighter that learns how to tap into their anger and rage, maybe even re-flavor rage as some sort of battle-trance.

Thing about Hexblade warlock is that it's the warlock you pick when you want to use Cha to do physical damage and fighter 100% needs exactly none of that.
You guys tunnel visioned so hard on that and spell use/Smiting that you totally missed the joys of buffing a non Eldritch Knight fighter with invocations (Devil's Sight, those 'free use of spell' ones, Beguiling Influence for two face profs, etc), using Hex to buff up your melee damage per hit just using the few spell slots you get from Warlock, and getting those small but handy 1st level dip bonuses (like say, The Fiend giving you a tiny amount of thp per ANY kill, The Genie's Bottled Respite and tiny damage boost per turn, Fathomless's 40ft swimming speed and water breathing, and The Undead's Form of Dread BA).

Absolutely not S tier in the slightest, is definitely inferior to Fighter/Cleric (Divine Domains, Bless and cleric cantrips are way better for Fighters than Otherworldly Patron, Hex and most Warlock Cantrips are in most cases but hey, access to Magic Stone, Minor Illusion and Prestidigitation at least XDDD) and if you're going to the level 20 is more a trade off than an improvement, but I'd say it's at the very least B tier dip and you guys are seriously sleeping on how useful warlock's first two levels can be to pretty much anything if you don't monofocus on Hexblade's Cha niche or trying to spam with Eldritch Blast~ XD

Warlock is the cheeze; delish but requires research into what kind to use with whatever you choose to pair it with

Fighter EK x wizard (blade singer, War, abjuration etc) 2 is one of the strongest fighter multiclasses in the game. Go even higher in war wizard and you can basically succeed on any concentration check ever. Arcane Ward is amazing on a tank and bladesinger goes without saying. S definitely. Comes online at 7.

A 2 lvl dip into Bard can get some interesting features for a fighter which Kelly and Monty didn't mention in this video. At Bard 1 you get spells and bardic inspiration which are okay, however at Bard 2 you get Jack of All trades which adds half your proficiency bonus to any ability check which does not already benefit from the proficiency bonus - which in some campaigns can include the initiative check. In addition Bard 2 gives Song of Rest, which can be used every time the party takes a short rest, and gives an extra 1d6 hit pts of healing to every character that spends a hit dice of healing. Also it doesn't cist a use of bardic inspiration like many bardic features do, and as Kelly and Monty pointed out in their video on how to create a healer, free healing is always worthwhile.

Oh I belive there is great combo with sorcerer!

Sorcerer3 will provide you with enlarge. 1d4 is handy and it is super fun with shield master where it allows you to shove huge monsters. Other useful spells will be absorb, shield, feather fall, invisibility or see invisible, dark vision, levitate. You can also convert between sorcery points and spell slots to get more of buffs you need in given situation.
But super great spell is shadow blade! If you get Sorcerer5, you can pull out 3d8 shadow blade, which I think is insane combo with sheer amount of attacks you can land in single turn. You can also spend some sorcery points to cast booming blade and do up to 6 attacks per turn with 5figher 5sorcerer (2 normal, 2 action surge, 1 quick cantrip bonus action and 1 reaction with battle master). Next option is ofc haste and fly, which you could also twin. Fighter might lack speed and Haste is great speed compensator.

Interesting combo might come from eldritch knight, which will push your spell slot level. That would allow you to have 3d8 shadow blade at sorcerer3 eldritch knight6 and 4d8 with sorcerer5 eldritch knight12 (if you were interested in that high level)

None of the listed is charisma dependend and I think there are variations for both DEX and STR build. It is not race locked and spells provides great utility with great damage boost. I would rate it A and some particular builds S. The sheer amount of options that are provided and different ways I could possibly go thru fights and tackle different tasks make it S for me and I would love to play it right now!

Wouldnt 1 level of Warlock be quite good to cast Hex with Str debuff for a battlemaster to give disadvantage for all Str saving throws in trip attack, pushing attack, disarming attack etc? Or Going to Warlock level 3 for casting darkness with Devils Sight to gain advantage for attacks with GWM... maybe even with Sentinel to trap them in the dark. Casting Hex curse on top would also be nice... What do you think?

As a side note, when y'all sat we haven't had a martial Sorc sub-class, you're right for the most part. We did have one, but it never made it out of UA unfortunately. Stone Sorcery. It's a subclass with a focus on not only being a martial sorc, but straight up being a tank sorc. The problem is that it wasn't good. I made my own revisions to it, because I really like it conceptually, and posted it to Reddit some years ago. I'm hoping that I might be able to get my DM's approval to use it at some point.

One of my favorite character concepts that I’m hoping to try out in a low-level game soon is a fighter/cleric with a war domain dip at level one, taking fighter to 6, then going Cleric the rest of the way.

The War Priest option gives a fantastic bonus action use right at level one, so that (WIS mod) times per long rest we can attack. That’s almost like having action surge at level one. Give her a greatsword or an axe and go to town. By level three, you can attack, Action surge attack, bonus action war priest attack for 6d6+(3 x STR mod) in a single turn. Great Weapon Fighting Style makes the damage even better. Can go Half Orc for brutal Critical as well.

Yes you’ll be one level behind for subclass/extra attack, but IMO the war priest attack option added with the emergency heal more than makes up for it. Take a soldier background and make them a front line medic serving Gruumsh that knows how to get their hands dirty.

In the past I also thought the Fighter/wizard was a better option than a pure Eldritch Knight.
But because of Booming Blade and Spirit Shroud, now I think the EK is a better option.

Get the Mobile feat. and by the first lvls, hit with booming blade and move away without trigger the attack of opportunity

Once you get 13th lvl, you will be attacking 3 times, with extra 1d8 spirit shroud on each attack (better than hex or hunter's mark), plus action surge, tons of ability score improvements.
EK is one of, if not THE best tank and now, because of spirit shroud, a great hitter too.

I am thinking of crossing classing my fighter with a homebrew class called the Swordmage. Currently, I am thinking Fighter 16 Champion with Swordmage 4 Spellsword. I have two weapon wielding and am planning on turning 1 ASI into the dual wielder feat so I can wield heavier weapons, possibly able to use gauntlets of ogre power with natural high strength before equipping the gauntlets to be able to dual wield great axes or swords. I am just looking for opinions on this combo and possible better versions of it any ideas?

The only thing that increases the stock of sorc over druid or cleric is that sorc has a lot of the spells that a fighter wants to have like shield, absorb elements, and haste with the potential for quicken or twin.

Then again, wiz does a very similar thing
