Review: The Savatage Vinyl Reissues (w/Rich Catino) (heavy metal)

Somehow Savatage passed me by at the time, which is a mystery to me in itself, only listening to SOT and Pete talk about them got me checking them out, I was looking for vinyl copies and in the UK they were very expensove I was about to relent and get cds when Chris Caffrey mentioned the re issues. So I'm collecting all these and they are great for me to be able to buy the whole catalogue over the past and future months. I think these are still available at reasonable prices in Europe, and on Amazon in the UK.

Hey Rich, one quick correction. "Larry Elbows" has been released before. I wanna say about 10 years ago when they put out "Streets: A Rock Opera Narrated Version".

Well, I’m especially looking forward to seeing that album homework episode now (thanks for the spoiler Rich!😉) because Gutter Ballet is in my top 5 albums of all time.

Rich-There's some copies of the Hourglass picture disc on Amazon. I have them all so far, amazing band and love the reissued vinyls. Some were never released on vinyl past Mountain King and it will be nice to finally have them.

I love when Pete sees someone with editions of his faves he doesnt have..its never jealousy, always just "that is SO cool".

A few commenters ask why Pete does not buy vinyl still...with 9,000 CDs, a billion movies and more comics...I think Pardo Manor would need a new wing! ;)

These re-issues are excellent indeed. One does NOT have to purchase via the band website however. There are many other places to buy.

Those first two have the BEST sound in my opinion! Everything thinned out after that until Hall. Great vid! Thanks, guys!

Love this. Savatage is one of my favorite bands. If i must pick one album its been "power of the night". I was a young man(20) have a blast,everything was good(i dont only talking music here)and the life was great. This album and this band has followed all my life.

Word is they all sound like shit.

Since you're buddies with Caffery, have you ever asked him why Whackholz is such a piece of garbage? lol

Got all the vinyl reissues so far, love em, they kinda lost me after Streets so the jury's out on future purchases. ( yeah, who am I kidding 😂😂)

Savatage is my favourite band of all time. Most of their records are absolutely fantastic to me ("Gutter Ballet" has got to be my favourite!) and I'm really happy about these reissues. Got almost all of them so far, except for "Sirens", but maybe I'll get my hands on that one too at some point. Great video!

I prefer Streets and Gutter Ballet over HOTMK. All great albums to be fair.

Great love to get them not sure if in Australian metal shops but Rich put vinyl in plastic sleeves the cardboard will scratch scuff up the new vinyl

Loved Savatage since the beginning, was fortunate to see the " Gutter Ballet " tour, just epic. I own every album they have out. Rip Criss Oliva.

I saw the original "Sirens" cover a few years ago in a record shop and I thought it was a bootleg. Oops.
The only vinyl reissue I have so far is "Dungeons..." It came with a 7" single with three songs when they were Avatar.

on Monday i will have the vinyls of Gutter Ballet and Streets! Can't wait!

GREAT EPISODE. Love me anything Savatage related. On the question why Chris wasn't on Streets Jon discussed it in a 2007 radio interview. He said there was no way Criss was gonna let anyone else play guitars on the album. So wonder if Caffery took the hint and found another gig?

I think he’s color blind. Mountain king is gold and gutter is silver. You can also get them on Amazon or other vinyl stores.

I've just received my copies of Gutter Ballet and Streets.... Rich, did you notice that these are remastered quietly? and also did you frame that poster of Gutter Ballet or did you just leave it in the package?

Definitely get these I have already purchased Gutter, Streets, Wake, edge of thorns, Hall of the Mountain King.

Get them now they will be gone & one thing about Savatage when it goes out of print it stays that way !!!
