I like to concider that SCP-001 as canon one. ;) The story menages to clear the problems with diffrent SCP-001 naming (all of the higher numbered SCPs just got that posotion due to another 001 termination).
Roots all of the stories in our world with "realeasing documentation to the public" (thats why we are viewing it now).
And shows that even an overwhelming success of our tool we can't wield and wich gets out of our control can be eery.

Afterall the machnie did nothing wrong and was not anomalius eather. Worked perfectly well. The only error was human for not specyfing the boundries of the operation, moral and practical (like not taking lives, removing even the helpfull and harmless SCPs, corrupting the council and those who oppose). We just could not use it well. And that was almost the best case scenario.

And if anyone is sad coz it deems the series closed so not relevant anymore, notice that we do not have the full documentation with termination procedures.
One decides what is canon to him and whats not. Its all about the fun of getting the compelling story anyway. :) The closing could maybe happen in the future and for now we can all love the monstrocities. :P However many Subjects have their cells already constructed in 5x5x5 mesures so that means that machine could be working. ;)

Honestly it’s kind of telling in this and many other scps that the foundation is willing to sacrifice almost any amount of lives to contain anomalies and are willing to do unspeakable things to safeguard humanity even sacrificing the lives of civilians and personnel but the minute the 05 are threatened they lose their minds and refuse all demands despite the benefits even it meant the removal of all anomaly’s from existence turning the world completely normal the 05 are such spineless cowards in these situations that they wouldn’t even risk harm to themselves, there’s that one anomaly that was willing to remove all other anomaly’s but also the 05 since they aren’t normal either and they just straight up said no

SCP-001 it's the matrix inside the matrix, SCP-001 was not always like that, one day I was goin to destroy SCP-001 but I thought that modifying and changing its pattern should be someday better and more beneficial for humanity in the long run...

This is easily the most underrated SCP-001 Entry.
