Ответитьvery interesting i like this video..

ОтветитьTHE THING THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT: Why is the fish farming industry mostly concentrated in the indoors.. Why can't it be in a natural reservoir, river, lake? For instance fence the fish and let them Grow.
Ответитьi am gointo fishing....i will like to apprentice bcos ii learn best pratically...i l ove this
Ответитьfantastic
Ответить@bessarabia7 They do that. You can't do that year round though. Sometimes they just have indoor hatcheries, and grow the fish out in larger bodies of water.

Ответить@Methodicaljuan. Looks like they have water heaters to do that. I saw a tankless and tank heater in the video. If energy costs are a concern you offset with solar thermal.

ОтветитьVery informative, I am retired now and seriously thinking of doing the tilapia or silver perch, I am told that the silver perch are more tolerant of colder conditions and they are good producers. I would like to eventually be a supplier of produce and fish. thank you for sharing. 😆

ОтветитьAfter much research it seems that fish farming alone is very high risk of capital. The combination with hydroponics whereby you combine with greenhouses and have the waste water circulated in a closed loop to the hydroponic green houses. The production in the green houses has a great profit potential whereas the fish part not so much. The competition in the food market for vegetables for example is less restrictive and "local" food is preferred by big chain stores. I was not too pumped on the greenhouse portion, but discussions with Auburn University professionals changed my mind. It is quite remarkable how profitable a properly run operation might be. Total investment payoff to be free and clear was estimated to be only 5 years. It gives the opportunity to run efficiently 365 days a year and also to time crops at prime demand times for better prices when stores have less availability for a particular product. It is to me, so far, very impressive. Unfortunately, this thread appears to be long dead and more than likely the company failed if only doing fish.
