Great video and interesting thoughts, I'm 58 and seen a lot of friends sadly pass away or have some sort of life changing illness, and its changed my perspective on life, i had been saving hard for my retirement, but like you said, life is too short, so i treated myself to a Jaguar F TYPE, my dream car, and not regretted my decision, enjoy the Porsche a great car.
ОтветитьAnd half the car.
ОтветитьThanks for the insight Peter. Like you, I am at the same stage of life and always dreamt of the 911, and almost justified to myself that I could cough up the cash for one. Even though I have not yet driven a 911 or 981, I have decided to buy a Cayman and keep the change. I’m sure I’ll have just as much fun, and I’m not fussed about the “911 bragging rights”
ОтветитьGreat quality video. Very professional.
ОтветитьDid you ever try an older 911 ie 996 - 997 as these would probably be similar price tag to the boxster?
ОтветитьCongrats on your Porsche! Im more of a value shopper myself and that sometimes means I spend more, and sometimes I spend less, depending on what gives the most continuous use and enjoyment. I typically like to buy something used for half the price or less but with 70 to 90% what I was looking for.
ОтветитьAbsolutely agree on the touch screens which every car maker is fitting in. I like the old feel, push/press buttons, also makes for lesser maintainance.
Ответить911is a FAT PIG but the Caymen is slim and beautiful Shane Porsche stunts the cayman
ОтветитьI bought a first gen boxter for 9k with 70k on the clock. Its been my commuter for the last 10 years. 150k miles now. No IMS issues. Just basic repairs. People are so weird with the hate for cars like the boxster and the Miata like cars are somehow masculine or feminine. I will buy a used 981 in a few years and give this boxster to one of my kids.
Ответитьit's not a 911. it's NOT a 911. It's not a 911!
Ответитьwhy not a Cayman?
ОтветитьI like this. Long distance Loping and B Road Thrashing….
Indeed the Boxster is a lovely car.
Hi Peter! Great videos, but most of all great photography involved in the videos you make. I'm in my 50th too... and for a while I'm considering to buy a second hand Porsche, but I have few concerns which no one could really help me with. First of all, I'm often suffering with lower back pain, which raises the question... would a lower sit in a Porsche affect me more? Then, as I'm not an expert of Porsche's world, how to choose a second hand Porsche without having bad surprises? Then, buy from a Porsche dealer or a private owner? What to look in for, when buying it? And lastly, taxes! How you guys go around the taxes applied to the huge engine power? In Italy everything above 250hp start to be badly taxed... which is ridiculous being the nation of many fast cars! Thanks to you or any passionate who will eventually give me some feedback or guidelines. Smooth driving!✌️
ОтветитьSounds like you had/have a pretty great Dad :)
ОтветитьI appreciate this honest review. I drive a Jaguar F Type, and people always tell me a 911 [or something else] would perform better, like I'm Lewis Hamilton or something. Most people arent honest with themselves - if you're not a professional racer, it's ok to prioritise other things.
ОтветитьMy brother's 433hp supercharged S2000 kills all Porsches at the track 😎.
ОтветитьI agree 100% with your opinions on the 981 boxster, unfortunately i think that i can only afford it in future years, and what scares me is that it has apreciated to oblivion.
Prices are getting dumb, and these niche cars will have ridiculous pricetags used, i just want to have one and keep it forever😄
Wow, was not expecting that.. that last 2 or 3 mins about spending money on things you love at that later age, I just yesterday started reading Die with Zero, similar principal.
(I’m about to turn 50 and bought a NB mx5 about 7 years ago and looking to upgrade, was looking at 996 911 as well, but will probably get something more budget friendly, BRZ or i30N etc)
Question: why did you choose the DCT instead of manual? Any regrets at all?
Great videos, look forward to viewing more, cheers.
"Touchscreens suck. I hate the bastards!" Truer words were never said.
ОтветитьFantastic review sir, Hat's off to you! would love to own a Boxter one day
ОтветитьIt might be better for the cost
But, it’s no 911
Great video, it’s comes down to,doesn’t matter what Porsche you drive, just enjoy the experience everyday. Over the years I’ve had 964 C2 , 944 Turbo, 997 C4s and now 981 GT4 , everyone of them epic in their own right.
ОтветитьIn Austria, you get fucked by all the taxes on cars and insurance etc.
ОтветитьYeah - the touch screen interfaces just suck
Ответить“Because it was modern it was supposed to be better” I’ve been saying this for years- overall quality of interiors, even on the luxury brands, has been sacrificed in the name of tech and fancy screens
ОтветитьIn my opinion boxster Spyder looks better than 911
ОтветитьLiwe a good life meet slomy .
ОтветитьThe Boxster looks nice to me, but I can't get over the middle exhaust.
ОтветитьWell now, you certainly got me thinking seriously about a Boxster. Thank you for this.
ОтветитьIm hearing you,😅 Peter. What a great job you have. That shot of the Red 911 in your garage gave me goosebumps. Im absolutely skint, I drive a very eco Kia Rio 1.4 non turbo deisel for commuting reasons. Its old, 130,000 and giving me hiccups. Soon im getting rid of the commute to next door work, finishing off the credit cards. So being sensible im thinking of a huge luxury Jag XF or a Porsche Boxster. I live alone and am very working class. Im late 50s so cant blame it on a mid-life crisis. My whole life is a crisis. Divorced ya de da etc. Question: Am i stupid. Why get a 100 ft long thirsty Jag when you dont have a missus and 2.2 children? A Porsche!!!!!!! Im not Elon Musk!!! Whats happening!!! PS Great channel
Ответитьi didnt come here to see any car or to hear anything all I wanted to see is an old man fulfilling his dream and sharing love
ОтветитьI smoked a second gen boxster in my stock Miata down some backroads
ОтветитьI agree 100%.
I had a 981 (base, PDK) for 5 years, put 175k kilometers on it.
Each time it needed a service the Porsche dealership gave me a 911 for 1 day. Apart from having more power at the top-end I never thought it brought me more fun than than my little boxster.
If you can live with having the smallest Porsche it is a truly rewarding car.
it’s better
ОтветитьThank you for your time.
ОтветитьI had a 981 Boxster, a 997 C2S cab, and a Taycan. Selling the 981 left a Boxster shape hole, which I filled last year with a 6-speed 718 GTS 4.0L...it's an absolute gem.
Ответитьdidn't even finish video, but in no world is a flubby boxter better than a 911. can the YT clickbait situ get any worse??🤦♂🤦♂
ОтветитьI love how the video wasn’t a bland car review like I expected, the man got deep and personal and I love it
Ответитьdrove a 718 once, absolutely awesome little car with humble power ratings
ОтветитьIf you can't afford either , the Toyota 86 is a great driving experience
ОтветитьSo far off topic, but what a coincidence happening to go broke 2 times in a life time and for "some odd reason" getting divorced twice.
ОтветитьCayman/Boxster with double wishbones, multilink rear & short gearing is the greatest Porsche never made. Shame.
ОтветитьI'd hafta agree with you..especially over the Rear of the 911. I've wanted a porsche for years and I'm quite sure I bought the cheapest one in Texas but its in excellent shape. I love the boxster and what they offer for the price. 2001 porche 986..still saving for a 911 though
Ответитьnice video, and truly inspiring message at the end.. Thank you
ОтветитьGreat video. I wonder if you shouldn't make this a car channel. The videos seem to perform well and your background would give you perspective and insight. Just a thought. I rarely subscribe to camera channels any more (so many) but a good car channel with a fresh approach would be a winner for me. Just a thought.
Ответить🤣 better 😂🤣😂
