For aficionados interested in the history of "mirror neurons" I recommend "Mirrors in the Brain: How Our Minds Share Actions, Emotions, and Experience" by Giacomo Rizzolatti and Corrado Sinigaglia.
Insular cortex is an intriguing part of the cerebral cortex. It's the area, where von Economo discovered pyramidal cells without basal dendrites, which he named "spindle cells". Their existence and function are still hotly debated.

ОтветитьThis is an alarmingly irresponsible way to present the topic of emotions under the guise of 'scientific study' So much rambling about completely unrelated topics. Also there is a lot of gender bias in this podcast brand in general. There's clear indication of female objectification again, using the 'scientific study' guide.

The people's reactions to emotional expressions of other matters. The study that showed men recognize facial expressions of emotions as well as women is mentioned so often. They should do a follow up study of the reactions of men and women to others' expressions of emotions. I bet women react much more strongly than men do.
