First....you need to check the video about how to apply from arctic. Because this is a not viscosity product. The viscosity is horrible
ОтветитьYou should compare Thermalright TFX with MX-6 they are both viscous.
Ответитьtruly Asian-level of improvization, nice
Ответитьeasiest method to apply is to pour until you cannot see the CPU any more.
Ответитьwow, i've been building gaming pc's for 11 years now for myself and friends and this is the first time i've seen that method of applying thermal paste, with the scotch tape and plastic wrap. What a brilliant idea! you've got a new subscriber here! 🙂
ОтветитьThis is a perfect application. I agree, you are amazing. So much time was wasted before I have seen this. I will do only like that from now on.
ОтветитьI've seen only one other person use the plastic wrap finger method for spreading thermal past and I think I like this method the best so far for what I have seen. I think it gives the user the most control over the spreading process. Very interesting! I think that for my build I'd like to not use pre-applied paste and instead rub my own thermal paste on because I don't know what paste get's pre-applied and I would like control of that. In terms of rating thermal paste It seems like impact on thermal performance and longevity is something that differentiates good from bad paste. As long as I am understanding this correctly, that seems to be the case. Thanks for helping me learn more
ОтветитьI was thinking of applying paste to the CPU before putting it into the socket. Potentially, it could avoid a mess on the mobo.
Pros/cons?
Hi Kleo
In your thumbnail I believe you intended to use the word "sorcery".
Well done 10/10 I subbed loved the video
Ответить🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьMx5 is obsolete now
Ответитьdat method tho man. nice one
ОтветитьI have acutally used kitchen wrap to spread thermal paste in the past - has always worked great.
Not 100% sure if spreading it with the little plastic thingy is really necessary but the results sure look professional. To be honest if you'd make an un-cut video about applying thermal paste like that with some soothing music it would make for a great ASMR :p
I'm definitely going to get that MX-6 though, 5°C for 4€ extra, that's a price anyone should be willing to pay.
arctic say not use a spreader with mx 6 but do the pea size method tho im not sure but ill try both !
Ответитьare those tissue paper or coffee filter paper and which would you recommend for cleaning thermal paste brother? and which type of alcohol to use?
ОтветитьLove the methodology - consistent spread, all stats on screen, fan speeds locked.
ОтветитьSuch a creative way of spreading the paste. I hate that small plastic spatula, so I have always used an X pattern.
ОтветитьI didn't even know the MX-5 was a thing. All the places I looked at only had 4 and 6.
ОтветитьIm definitely going to spread thermal paste the way you did!
Ответитьis that a regular tissue that youre wiping with?
ОтветитьVery neat method to spread thermal paste. I will start using it myself.
Thanks a lot!
I’ve been wanting to try something similar but I never take the time to give it a shot. I really wish I could get my hands on one of those factory application tools they use to apply the perfect “pre-applied” square/rectangle to AIO cold plates. Or just make something like this that is reusable. Great video! Subbed.
ОтветитьIt's not the wizard, you are the wizard 😂. Received some mx-6 today for my laptop.. its running hot thought being quite new. Will try to report back.
ОтветитьSocery
ОтветитьThermal paste applying redefined!
ОтветитьThank you. I am doing my first build now. Your application technique is the best I have seen. I will also be doing an AF2-420 with MX-6.
Ответитьi'd be concerned about air bubbles with that method of spreading it
ОтветитьI believe they dropped the MX5 name because simple folk where mixing it up with Arctic Silver 5. MX5 is non conductive but AS5 is and people where confusing them and frying their parts. So they changed it to MX6. Works great spread it on your chip like butter on bread.
ОтветитьCPU Temps idle are 50c and as soon as the CPU is placed under any type of load, it shoots up quickly to 100c and throttles the CPU. Time for new thermal paste. I've got the MX6 and will do it tomorrow.
ОтветитьNowadays it is really difficult to measure the temperature difference because the better dissipation allows the CPU to run on higher clocks.
ОтветитьYou should link and share this video more on your newer videos, this one was extremely informative and important for new ryzen cpu users. Alot of the AM5 AIO's have horrible mounting brackets so keeping even paste is a nightmare, on top of the weird chip design with the exposed parts on the side . This advice and testing are pretty huge for the newer builds, and the heat dissipation explanation you gave for why the VRMs stayed cooler with the mx-6 is something I've never thought about or heard anyone discuss about different thermal pastes. I have really been aiming at lower temps and this is a great video so thank you so much
ОтветитьHi my good sir, this level of detail is highly appreciated. It's so good I got to come across your video, you automatically got 1 sub. I'm still about to check if you have a video about it already, but could you do a video about PBO particular to Asrock. It's so hard being an asrock user, tried to do the individual core tests and still get random crashes. Tried to do the manual undervolting but it ate me alive -_- But again, thank you so much for the video.
ОтветитьDo you know if the pbo is necessary for the 7700 non x is still runs hot with the wraith cooler that came in the box
Ответить💛💙🌻🌾💖👍
ОтветитьI would wonder if the tape creates static. Its something I would want to avoid.
ОтветитьUsing scotch to avoid spreading behind borders is genius!🎉
Ответитьyou are very wise sir.
ОтветитьBest application i ever see 😮
ОтветитьTop notch analysis. Best I've seen.
Love it. You gained a subscriber sir
Can you tell me how to find the "Mikashi" online? (Hopefully I spelled it right) LOL
ОтветитьBro I've been using painters tape XD
ОтветитьThanks for showing not only how to apply, but also how to remove. Something a lot of videos skip over. I'm in the process of upgrading cooling and will go with the 6.
Ответитьgood job.
ОтветитьMX5 was a failure they stopped producing it, it got replaced with MX6
Ответитьvery in depth review and test, i wish to share a strange experience of mine with my gaming laptop. it's a scar 3 with rtx 2070 and i7 9750h, i was using MX4 all these while for both cpu and gpu, after MX5 released i decided to test it on my laptop, but i get weird performance issues where the game i test genshin is having some slutter issue, where the cpu is not running max frequency for some seconds and then back to normal performance again, i repasted the cpu with MX4, and it was fine again, i think there is something wrong with the cpu not liking the viscosity and thickness of the MX5 thus giving some lag/slutter issue when it is not doing it's job of cooling the cpu properly? i think it's better to use MX5 on the gpu, at least in my case, i never had this issue with MX4, not sure what i am doing wrong
ОтветитьWhat's your advice, Noctua NT-H2 or this? Thanks before.
ОтветитьThis makes me want to re-paste my CPU even though I don't need to. :)
ОтветитьIs it possible that your ambient temps were lower for the MX-6? With lower VRM temps, drive temps, etc - it seems like ambient is different (or if this was cased - case temps).
Ответить
