Such an iconic theme and movie. An yet I still can’t get a grip on if I truly like this movie. Sure it’s played by amazing cast and is well made, but it has also hurt the point of view of the ocean. The film has give. Sharks such a bad name when in reality, most sharks, even the great white, don’t have a true taste for human blood. Your more likely to be struck by lightning than be killed by a shark. In fact, sharks kill only about 10 people globally a year. We on the other hand kill over 100 million sharks a year. So if there’s really a monstrous animal that deserves such a bad name and violent reputation, it’s us humans.

Everytime my neighbor upstairs gets on my nerve with their deliberate stomping, I always play this on high volume. It always let them know ............ One of these days IMMA GET YAH! 🤣
Thanks for the memories of being haunted as a kid everytime I go to the beach... Even in the pool. 😅

I saw Jaws when it first came out.That music was the prelude to getting the shit scared out of me. Of course, I was only 12. ;)

Imagine you're in a theater in 1975. The Universal logo pops up and the underwater sea sounds start. After a good 15 or 20 seconds, those first two notes play. The entire crowd around you get a very uneasy feeling. Then, the opening credits of the greatest film ever made roll!!

I won't call the similarites to other works borrowing or referencing not without words from Williams. I would like to ask J Williams if he thought of the opening to Dvorak's New World or the flute blasts of Rite of Spring. Makes sense: Both Rite of Spring's rhythms and Jaws theme bring to mind words like inexorable, primitive, threatening. This is a masterpiece from the guy who wrote the theme song to A Guide for the Married Man.

I'm honestly glad I have my love of movies that came out in the 1970s. And Jaws is my number 1 favourite 1975 film.
