Really rather ironic. Macintosh (and all Apple products) are STRICTLY controlled. Only Apple makes their products, only Apple permits the software you install. Apple's originally had proprietary plugs and outlets in all their computers that only Apple sold (for a hefty price!). Yes, Apple did allow diversity for a very short while then removed the license permit. OTOH - PCs are a jungle of competitors, products and accessories, with standard, non-proprietary interfacaes. Yes, PCs are the "wild west" compared to Apples strictly controlled hierarchy.
