Mine is weird it hunts for the idle and then it will stall when I first start it then I restart it and it’s good
ОтветитьUse the gears save the brakes, rev match save the clutch
ОтветитьEven on a carbed cammed car I always set idle to 800-900. Never had issues with air running at idle etc.
ОтветитьWhat ECU are you using?
ОтветитьI might be trippin’ but that looks like the Okanagan.
ОтветитьAn EFI upgrade, even when i had a Classic FAST system made my cammed fox idle like butter. But it still bucked at low RPMs 😅
ОтветитьThis is any camed engine. It's not just 5.0's. From Kohler K341's, Harley twins, all over the board. The bigger the cam, the worse the idle.
ОтветитьLove
viedos sir
You need a cam that has a lobe separation of 110 degrees or higher..
ОтветитьThat’s why the Ford Motorsport E303 or F303 cams were the best cams in my opinion for what I had and looks like would be perfect for what you are wanting…
ОтветитьDo you or any or any of your followers may have some input… my 87 is a 306 SVE heads unknown cam but runs and sounds like a E cam.. 24 pound injectors BBK shorty headers Maf upgraded but how about carb swapping it to make it run better… I’m $3500 into this car trying to it right…also has an AOD trans…
ОтветитьLove your soft top I had the same model wished I never sold it! So much fun!
ОтветитьI’m looking for another notch back. Your is very clean…..but! Please get that gt body kit off of your notch.
ОтветитьAfter I added all the standard bolt on’s, GT-40 heads, cam, throttle body, etc I ran into the same sporadic idle issue. My problem ended up being the TPS being in the wrong position voltage wise. Mine did EXACTLY what his does in this video too. As soon as I set it correctly with a multi meter, the idle sits perfect, cold or at running temp. No dips or subtle crashes. Look up videos on setting the TPS voltage and you may fix your issue too. It’s also SUPER easy to do.
ОтветитьIdle air control vavle
ОтветитьBeautiful car, what’s it do in the quarter mile?
ОтветитьVacuum you say? Hmm that is interesting, I myself would have probably guessed that your valve springs were not the right ones to be running with that cam. I also would look at the TPS module with a multimeter and dial that thing in to the proper spec for your cam. BTW did you reset your idle after you changed the cam? If not be sure you do that before you mess with the TPS. Finally if you feel certain about it being caused by low vacuum you can always put a vacuum booster on it from Hoover, LOL. Anyway I hope this helps you solve your problems. BTW damn good looking cars you have man, good luck
ОтветитьIs it really that embarassing though?
ОтветитьI see one of your problems... Your seat is too far back. Like stretching your legs much? 😅
ОтветитьSame thing was happening on my newly cammed LS3 camaro. Tuned it out though. Never happened again
ОтветитьI can say when ford designed the 5.0HO and was shooting for TQ they really killed it. I know the part selection to build TQ in an engine How in the hell did they get so much low end TQ in a little engine with a tiny 3" stroke?? My 95 5.0 even with 2.73 gears has tractor type low rpm TQ. There's a road I have to turn onto going home it's very very steep and I can turn onto that road going around 30mph and I can chug up that hill in 3rd gear turning 1100rpm all the way up without any bucking just blub blub all the way up, I've found on secondary roads I can chug around in 3rd almost like a one speed trans. I will miss that a bit when I mod the engine but I'm also used to driving temperamental cammed vehicals, imo switching up to a 3.55 gear when I do the C.H.I. swap will help significantly and where I daily it in warm weather I'm trying so hard to force myself to be conservative with the heads and cam, I don't hot rod everywhere just drive with just get on it a bit from stops now n then not all the time and I'm still think go with the afr 185s heads even tho im sure for drivability I'll be happier with the 165s because there little better choice, I think people make more of a thing about runner size to s certain amount I really don't think that 20cc difference would make a huge difference...?
ОтветитьHave you considered the additional load on the engine when off the throttle, turning the steering wheel, and on the brakes?
My 91 has edelbrock heads, intake, etc with a trick flow stg1 and I love it.
The larger brake booster helps this also.
The IAC restriction plate also helped.
I've been messing with this thing for 12yrs...lol
Nice Fox 👍
ОтветитьOff topic, but what is the biggest cam i can put in my 5.0 that has trick flow 170 heads and 1.7 rockers?
ОтветитьThis guy has like three no no that u shouldn’t do to a foxbody it’s just wrong makes it look horrible it hard for me to say cuz I love foxbodys have two my self
ОтветитьMy cam fox body does the same thing more noticeable for me when it’s cold
ОтветитьAdjust your timing! The 5.0 Fox body is one of the last cars where you could set the timing!
ОтветитьExcellent 👌
Ответить@KASL Customs i just recently found your channel. A lot of good info. My dad bought a 90 convertible lx brand new, one of the manual 7/up cars. It was just handed down to me. Loved that car when i was a teenager. It’s extremely low miles, all the factory paperwork/window stickers/ pictures of the car on the dealership floor, original car cover, convertible cover, factor ford leather bra etc etc etc…., in perfect condition and bone stock. been wondering what to do with it tbh. i was told because of what it is and its condition to leave it stock. It’s been under cover its whole life and i cant take it anywhere without someone trying to buy it. i want to do a few things to it but still debating if i should. After seeing the one they auctioned off that was an auto with more miles and with mine being in better condition that it…. Makes me pause and wonder if i should leave it alone. but i really want to cam it, regear the rear end, do a 5 bolt conversion with wheels, and lower it two inches and just have fun with it like i did 25 years ago. if you know what i should do please let me know because i cant make up my mind lol. just took it out of its sleeping spot for its annual fluid changes and detail just to cover it back up for another year… thats been its life for 20 years. Seems wrong to not drive it and have fun…
ОтветитьCould you just add a vacuum canister and see if that helps? That's what I would try.
ОтветитьI would like to see a cam Thunderbird and also a cam crown Victoria
Ответитьnice day out
ОтветитьI had a supercharged 5.0 and when available I always ran ford parts. They always fir the best and ran the best.
ОтветитьAlways a sweet looking Foxx, yesssirrrr
ОтветитьBeauty car man! Looks like you’re a local BC guy in Kelowna. My 87’ 5.0 LX Hatchback had a B303 cam with the exact same kwirks. Could never figure it out, but that car never gave me any real issues in the 4 years I had it. I absolutely regret selling it, and I’m now looking for another foxbody notchback. You got a new subscriber! Cheers
ОтветитьI think it's the steering while your at idle or just getting down to it. Its stressing the engine just enough at those low rpm's.
ОтветитьI had a 92 LX, Same Color, Deep Emerald Green. Currently considering painting my S550 the same color.
ОтветитьIt's the PCM.
Get t repaired or there will be many tows in your future.
Ask me how I know...
PCM is fried.
Get it fixed.
Capacitors are spent.
They're 30yrs old.
get them replaced at a local computer shop.
car won't start hot.
Immm frommm Menasotaaa😂
ОтветитьGrab yourself A sodA if you find yourself in minnesotA… so yAaaa🎉😂
ОтветитьLooking for a Motor Trend July 2007 1987 Mustang GT - Torque Authority - Kansas City.
Ответитьso you have a working e brake... weird and rare
ОтветитьThere's an old saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too" if you want to change out the stock mild cam for something that will provide increased performance something has to give and that typically is drivability. I owned a 90 notchback that had several cams throughout the 13 years with the first one being a B303, it had drivability issues but I tuned most out with an EEC Tuner and just lived with the remainder by learning to drive in a manner that made issues less annoying.
ОтветитьHow much better is the explorer manifold than the stock one? I have an Australian model 97 Fairmont with the same intake as the stock one on the fox body. Also putting gt40p heads so curious to know the benefits of the explorer manifold
ОтветитьI went with a trickflow stage 1 I like it
ОтветитьU have to tune timing just right and also check TPS Voltage
ОтветитьYeah that’s the Throttle Position Sensor.
Ответитьsaw more 5.0s with surging hunting idles or stalling than I could count in the 80s
Place called B and D opened up in sfv who were expert tuners with these. Nice peopleMost times when camming you gotta gear the car accordingly, it will drive through a lot of it.
